There are many great fish and chip places in North Devon but this place truly is the best. You pay by the weight of the fish and the batter is not thick and full of oil. Its thin and crispy meaning you get to really enjoy the taste of the fresh fish. Takeaway for 4 adults and 3 children was under £20. Would highly recommend this to anyone in the area wanting fish and chips.

This is on the doorstep, so very tempting. As a restaurant it is clean comfortable and very efficient. You may have to wait at the door to be seated, but be patient - it is worth it - you wont get better fish and chips. Try the fish medley - no batter. Also licenced so you can enjoy a drink....

My wife and I and our dog visited Braunton on the suggestion of our son on Monday 15th October for Lunch. Dogs are not allowed but there is sheltered seating outside the front of the restaurant. The venue has quite a large restaurant and covers two floors. Also to the right hand side is the Take Away facility. Whilst they were quite busy we ordered the Flagship, Fish, Chips and mushy peas with a pot of tea. The tea came quickly and we warmed ourselves with this as the weather was somewhat chilly seated outside. The Fish and chips etc were delivered within about 15 minutes which tended to indicate they were made fresh for us. I must mention the toilets which were magnificent in their cleanliness and also their state of the art fixtures. From the taps to the hand dryer no expense has been spared. It would have been worth going just to use these brilliant facilities. Back to our luncheon which was as stated very good, however it was not the best we had ever had but very acceptable in the circumstances. I suppose we were expecting thick pieces of cod rather than the offerings we had. Also the mushy peas were not from original soaked pea format. Another nice touch we saw but did not try was the bread, which unlike many places was not sliced but good thick cut bread and butter. All in all a very nice luncheon with a cost inclusive of about £17-50p and was good value. One other point would be that as we were sat outside we could be viewed from all the customers inside the facility and with buses stopping just in front of the restaurant privacy is not something you would get if you were looking for same.

Got to be the best in the area. Never had a poor meal. Great to eat in, aswell as take out. Always busy, which speaks for itself, but worth the wait. Just thinking about their fish makes my mouth water. Visit date as October, but its weekly really.

This is the best fish and chip restaurant in the North Devon area. The batter just melts in your mouth. The restaurant is modern and immaculately presented. A holiday at Woolacombe isn't complete until we have dined at Squires. Excellent!
