Having been to Willowfield Lake Cottages in 2009, we went back again in 2010 and within a wwek of coming back home we have booked for 2011.

The cottages are so clean and modern that it's like being at home. No worries about getting to a place and wondering if you're going to hate it.

The whole "site" - sorry to use that word - makes it sound horrid - is very well maintained - and is safe for children. The play area kept my 7 year old amused for many an hour (and some!!) and we were happy to let her run about on the land with the other children staying.

The pool is great fun and again maintained to a very high level.

Wendy and Terry could not be more welcoming and make a real effort to be visible, but now overpowering.

So, would we recommend it???? You bet - it's the nicest holiday accomodation we've ever seen.

Myself and my husband have just come back from a 4 night break here with our 2 daughters aged 18yrs and 2 1/2 yrs. I have to say it has been the best break we have had so far. Terry and Wendy made us feel very welcome from the start. The cottages (ours was Swan) were clean, modern and so comfortable, with everything you could need. Babies/toddlers are well catered for from bed guards to potties, basically anything you would need Wendy will put in for you.
There were facilites there for both of daughters, the play areas were brilliant as was the pool and hot tub. The grounds look amazing, well kept.
I cant think of anything to fault Willowfield and are planning to do the 9 hr trip again next yr!!.

We have stayed at Willowfield Lake Cottages for our family holiday every year for the past 11 years. It is perfect for a family holiday, no matter what age you are. The location is off the beaten track, yet only 5 minutes from the endless sandy beach at Saunton in one direction or to the handy local Tesco at Braunton in the other. The new managers, Terry and Wendy are so welcoming that nothing is too much trouble (not that we've really needed to call on them, as the cottages and general site are so well equipped). The onsite play areas, swimming pool, hot tub, games room and fishing lake all provide instant relaxation. Easy walking, cycling and surfing are all on the doorstep. The earthquake train ride at Dinosaur World in Coombe Martin should not be missed if you have young children - for older ones, try quad biking or laser shooting in the woods just outside Barnstaple. There are two National Trust houses within easy reach and countless other places to and things to do nearby - far too many to list. Squires fish and chip shop in Braunton is not to be missed either. Enjoy your stay!

We have just returned from a superb holiday - our first with our 10 month old baby - and would strongly recommend Willowfield Lake Cottages to anyone looking for a getaway in North Devon. The location and site are lovely, with lots of space to amble, play or just relax and the cottages are really well situated to reach the beautiful beaches at Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe. The cottages are newly refurbished to a really high standard and are very well-equipped, the owners were also happy to lend us a cot, highchair and change mat, saving precious boot space. We stayed in Swift Cottage and found it to be immaculately clean ad very cosy and homely. The on site facilities were great, we particularly enjoyed the lovely warm pool (we had it to ourselves on 5 out of 6 days) and a soak in the hot tub. The outdoor play facilities would suit children of a wide age range - our little man loved the baby swing and little slides and the games room would be great in wet weather. All in all a perfect location and a very warm welcome on our first holiday as a family - I would strongly recommend it.

stayed here for one week in June, weather was great, however plenty to see and do in good or bad weather, made the trek to Eden and Tintagel Castle, can be done in a day.. fab fun for all ages... . Cottages themselves were fantastic.. lots of entertainment for active little one! Pool and hot tub were bliss for all... ! As was the location.. off the beaten track enough for seclusion... however close enough not to feel too cut off... Owners brilliantly helpful and welcoming... beautiful area, managed a bike ride on the Tarka trail, rock pooling at Woolacombe, splashing at Croyde, touring lynton/Lymouth...Arlington House too!

We stayed for a week at Willowfield Lake Cottages with our 6 month old daughter. The location is quiet and rural, a mile or so outside Braunton down a winding country lane. The buildings on the site used to be a radar station during WWII. 'Cottages' might imply detached buildings but the 12 or so units are divisions of 2 single storey buildings. We stayed in a 2 bed cottage called Moorhen. Although spacially quite small, the cottage was well equipped with fixtures and fittings of a high quality, e.g. Grohe shower and bath unit, Hotpoint dishwasher etc. Linen, carpets, curtains and furniture was all of a much higher quality than I am used to in such establishments. There is a large play room with table tennis, table football and a pool table. Another part of the building houses a good indoor swimming pool and hot tub. There are 2 well equipped play areas for small children and older children respectively, and a fishing lake and open fields over 12 acres. The site is well maintained by friendly but unobtrusive management. The sites and beaches of north Devon are within easy striking distance. I thought this place was excellent and would definitely return.

Stayed in Swift Cottage (1 bed) for a week mid April 2010 with my husband and 10 month old daughter. This was my first family holiday so it was important that the accommodation was clean and safe for a small child. I was very pleased with not only the cottage but the whole complex. The cottages have been recently refurbed and have been equiped with everything you would need, a real home from home. The bedroom was spacious, even with a cot in the room there was plenty of room; the bathroom was newly fitted with power shower, under floor heating etc; the kitchen was also newly fitted which included a dishwasher and washer dryer; the living area was comfortable with dining table and chairs, tv with freeview and a dvd player. There was even a boxed games compendium under the TV.

Within the well maintained grounds there is a lovely indoor swimming pool, the area is kept very clean and also includes a hot tub. There are two children's play area's on site one for older children which includes a large wooden fort with climbing wall etc. The play area for younger children is well stocked with high quality swings/slides etc which were always very clean which my little one loved. The lake itself is beautiful and although I was not there for a fishing break it was lovely to take a leisurely walk around it.

Braunton is the nearest village approx a 5/10 min drive away, which also has a Tesco so you don't have to go too far for your supplies. If you fancy walking into town it is a lovely walk, the road edges on to marshland and at a leisurely pace probably takes approx 45 mins including a break to feed the swans on the way. The cottage is in a great location for exploring North Devon, Barnstable, Ilfracombe, Exmoor Zoo and Lynton (to name just a few) are all within easy reach and well worth a visit.

Wendy and Terry were so friendly and helpful at all times which added to the whole experience of the holiday. I have used Tripadvisor for many years, but never placed a review of my own. After having such a wonderful holiday I felt compelled to leave a review as I would hate to think that anyone reading the negative review from the lady who didn't actually stay at Willowfield would be put off staying here. A wonderful holiday, look forward to a return visit.
