Little Comfort Farm
Reviewed July 22, 2013

A wonderful time can had by all on this delightful farm. Children will love it, adults too. Expect a relaxing holiday and some great-tasting home cooked food from the farm shop. The nearby beaches and Devonian towns and villages are the icing on the cake. Warmly recommended.

Room Tip: You get what you pay for.

We have just returned from the most wonderful stay at Little Comfort. It completely surpassed our expectations as a wild, beautful and enchanting haven, with fabulous grounds that allowed our children to roam free. Jackie and Roger were the most welcoming and helpful hosts - Roger's morning farm excursions were a highlight as the children enjoyed feeding the lambs and riding in the tractor trailer up to the chicken fields to collect the (very delicious) eggs! Our only regret is that we did not book for two weeks.
The accomodation was clean and comfortable with the happy remnants of previous guests - an eclectic book selection and colouring pens etc. This made it all a lot less sterile than some rental cottages where you arrive to find no signs of previous life at all. We really enjoyed our welcoming homemade cream tea and happily kicked back and relaxed. It is a good sign of a comfortable stay when you feel in no rush to go off and 'do' stuff every day. Having said that, the location was perfect as we were able to easily access the best beaches that North Devon has to offer.
The weather was sublime for the whole week - hotter then the Dordogne and more beautiful. But, my husband and I did reflect upon the fact that, had we experienced a more typical English summer, the fantastic barn with basketball hoop, hockey sticks and tennis rackets would have kept our boys entertained for hours. They made full use of it anyway and loved the challenge involved in retrieving stray balls from the neighbouring sheep!
The swing by the lake has to rate as one of the most enchanting spots ever. Even my boys, aged 7 and 9, understood that it was a very special spot! They are now pestering us to buy a farm!
We definately intend to return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Just don't tell too many people - we want to keep it for ourselves!

What a pleasure to find your lovey review on Tripadvisor! It was an absolute treat to see your boys making so much of our wonderful valley during your holiday and obviously having such fantastic fun. It brought back very happy memories of our own children growing up here, please do come and stay again soon!

This was our third visit to Little Comfort Farm (our 4th is already booked) and we believe this has to the best farm holiday available.
Jackie and Roger are wonderful hosts who willingly share their immense knowledge with interested guests.
Every morning guests young and old can 'help on the farm' be it bottle feeding the lambs or maybe travelling by tractor & trailer or Landrover up to the field to feed the pigs and collect the eggs from the free range chickens.
With wifi in the cottages, an onsite games room and a playroom there is always something to keep the younger guests entertained -whatever the weather.
Days can be passed relaxing on the farm, enjoying the garden, paddling in the stream, playing on the big swing or even fishing the lake. There are some lovely local walks and bike rides and some fantastic sandy beaches within a 10 minute drive of the farm.
We feel very privileged to have stayed at Little Comfort Farm and look forward to having many more happy holidays in Jackie & Rogers little piece of paradise.

Hurrah! We're so looking forward to seeing you all again next year - it's lovely to share the holiday experiences of people who really make the most of all the farm has to offer and who join in so enthusiastically with farmer Roger and his happy band of helpers. Thank you for being tip top guests.

My Aunt Ros and I (and most importantly Poppy the dog!) had the most relaxing short break in the Granary. We used Little Comfort as a base from which to visit local towns, National Trust properties and beauty spots. Jackie pointed us in the direction of the best plant centres and retail therapy centres!!. We didn't have any children with us, but could easily see that Little Comfort caters for everything children could possibly wish for - even a different craft for each day of the week n the childrens play room! The peace and quiet are priceless and the enclosed garden meant that we didn't have to worry about Poppy escaping. A very special place where nothing is too much trouble and if you've got small children it's not to be missed.

We spent the day here fishing, the location is picturesque, it's like you're transported back in time when you're sat by the lake. The facilities were the best I've seen, a little farm shop where you could buy bait as well as bacon!! I would highly recommend you paying a visit, I'm hoping to go back but stay this time!!

We have arrived back after our 7th trip to Little Comfort with our 8th booked for next year. It is just the most relaxing holiday in the most beautiful setting. Jackie & Roger are the perfect hosts & nothing is too much trouble for them from passing on all the interesting facts about the farm & local area to providing the most fantastic food to buy.
Little Comfort is perfect for families with young children but ours are now 12 & 8 and still love going off with Roger in the mornings to feed the animals & collect the eggs (as do Mum & Dad & Grandma & Grandad). The new play room with table football & snooker proved to be a popular addition this year.
We are looking forward to next year already!
