Amazing views and expect it looks even better in the summer, but unfortunately let down by the park itself. Although clean accommodation, this park needs updating to the standard of other Park Dean sites. The location of our caravan was not the best, but have to say it was clean. If you want a quiet, off the beaten track break, then this location is ideal. Don't expect to go on a bike ride as the hills are pretty big and there's a pretty hairy car journey through the narrow lanes to get there. The nearest major shops are about 15 miles away. Head into Plymouth if need be, you'll find much more to do there if its abysmal weather.

Stayed here in July 2012. Originally booked as a sun holiday and extended whilst there as the weather was fantastic. Were given a new caravan that had central heating and whilst we didn't have much of a view, just a 2 minute walk took you to the sea front.

The restaurant/pub overlooks the beach and we ate here every night/day. The curry night was very nice and the Sunday Roast was superb. Book a table or you may not get in! The chippy was awful, as had been on a previous holiday. Frozen chips and awful fish, avoid it.

Nice swimming pool, very accommodating if you have special needs. The toddler time in the pool was very good indeed, water was warmer and inflatables are available for the little ones including little boats for you to push them around in. Nice park next to it, could do with more though like swings etc. The indoor play area wasn't bad but if busy it gets very crowded and too overwhelming for the little ones.

The beach is perfect, as the weather was so nice we spent a few days there amongst the rock pools and in the sea. We also had a picnic up on the grass verge where the bungalows are, next to the shop and the sea views are lovely there.

The shop is good enough, supplies mostly everything you need. Prices typical of a holiday shop. Lots of souvenirs to buy and bits and bobs.

The access road to the park can be somewhat scary as they are very narrow roads with high hedges but if you take your time you will be fine.

The staff were very helpful and the children loved the daytime activities in the centre. Even if only a handful of kids turned up they still entertained the kids and played with them. Didn't go to the evening entertainment so cannot comment on it but when passing it was fully packed. Talking to other holiday makers, it seems this is a park that attracts visitors time and time again and I can see why. If you have the weather, I would say it is the best located park I have been too.

We went to this place in Sept 2012 during term time. The lanes leading to the park are horid and talk about boring, you can't see a thing for about ten miles as the lanes like rabbit runs.My car is a proper battle bus and I am glad that i wasn't driving a vehicle that i valued as i would of cryed.I am a single mom of 3 children and to have no phone signal was awfull as i felt so isolated especially as we all came down with a sick bug. There was nothing for my daughter of 12 to do unless she used the murky pool. The soft play area was tired and non inviting and the games room was dated and sad.The out door play area was pathetic, and took about 2mins to explore.the evening entertainment was ok for my 4year old but he knows no different,I found it poor and souless. The beach was nice but as we had bad weather we didn't really experience the natural beauty. This is a fab place for walkers as it is rugged natural beauty, but not for kids if the weather is bad
.We decided to explore further afield but as the lanes in every direction are narrow and dull it wasn't worth doing again. You would have to be in a double decker bus to see anything! The caravan was fair and we were reasonably comfortable. The staff were not at all interested when i told them that we had all been ill,i thought they may like to know so that they could give it a deep clean.
I wouldn't of been so angry if Park Dean holidays had at the very least acknowledged my countless complaints, they are not a company i would ever have a holiday with again, even if they payed me.
i'm even cross that i have to waste my prescious time writting this, but i want everyone to know what they have instore.

Just returned from challaborough bay holiday park, hilltop 6. The caravan was excellent throughout, clean, dry, warm and well presented. The site itself is clean and tidy and well kept. Staff all seemed friendly and always acknowledged with a smile. The food in the waterside bar was first class. I am a fussy bugger and very picky and I found no fault, except maybe a little too much on the plate. Again everything in the bar was very clean and everyone helpful. The only fault any of us could level at challaborough was the lack of phone signal, which is a pain but not really that much of a problem.

Just got back from the worst family holiday experience. Definately not 4* park, and definately wont be going back! Entertainment lacking in entertainment and very bitty, probably more suitable if you have kids under the age of 7 and want to have early nights, although dont expect to sleep if you have a caravan on the right hand side of the park as road noise makes it impossible to get a full nights sleep!
Dont go here if you have been to good quality holiday parks before, as you will be disappointed.
The beach, sea and Friar Tuck takeaway are the only good things about the place sadly!
