I haven't been here since I was 13 but it was awful and boring used to dread holidays here! I lived In derby at the time but moved to devon aged 14 to live as I now live in Exeter I can assure you there are much nicer places in devon!!

Stayed as part of the sun holiday deal for four nights. Tried to book an accessible caravan but the park would only allow this if you paid the £122 upgrade cost. This was a bit off as I have never been asked to pay this before. Surely parks need to realise that wheelchair users like to holiday also and in this day and age more than one adapted caravan should be made available.
That said we were positioned near the facilities and the caravan was pretty good and appears to have had a recent overhaul so was nice and clean. I didn't find any difficulty finding the place with sat nav but the roads are narrow in and out of the area. The park is a bit remote so if you want to get away from big towns this is the place located right on challaborough bay. Nearby bigbury on sea is stunning with views across to burgh island and across the whole Bay Area. Staff that I came into contact with were friendly. A good base if you want to drive around the local areas but the first 5 miles are on narrow track roads. Didn't use any of the sites facilities so can't comment.

Stunning views, we were on Seaview Row and a luxury delightful caravan. It had large enclosed decking and central heating, couldnt want more especially as location was nearest to beach and pool but with excellent coastal views. The park is directly onto the cove with Bigbury beach and Burgh Island to the right which we walked to every morning with our dog up onto the island by the beach causeway. We were impressed with the surronding area how dog friendly every one was, especially Journey End Inn Pub which was our stop off after walking at the stunning Ermes Estaury. The ferries running between the estuaries allowed dogs too. Places we visited were Dartmoor, Salcombe and Torquay, Kingsbridge and Thurleston, coast was very beautiful. its a pretty park and we found the staff very welcoming and we are booking to return there. Found roads not a problem and had a 02 phone signal in the caravan. We had older children with us and surfing was fantastic and loved the pool.

Unfortunately we visited Challaborough Bay on the weekend of the St.Jude storm which rather spoilt the experience for us.

I think this site is perfect if you want peace and tranquility at a beautiful unspoilt bay, but it wasn`t really for us.

We booked through the sun newspaper and didn`t upgrade so just had the basic bronze caravan, as we just wanted to tag a couple of nights onto our main weeks holiday in Paignton. Our caravan was situated on Ermine Street and was in an elevated position on a hill and it did feel rather precarious stuck up there in a basic 10 ft wide caravan with no double glazing!

The caravan was clean and comfortable enough for it`s age so no complaints there and it did have spectacular views across the bay and we tried to imagine it on a beautiful summers day, but My Word! When that storm hit! Our caravan swayed as the wind howled around us and the sound of the rain battering the caravan was relentless, rather like living in a tin can!! Me and the children were pretty scared although hubby slept through all the fuss! lol It really did feel like a rather bizarre rough Irish sea ferry crossing but on land! The wine glasses in the kitchen cupboard clinked and chinked all night, and even the lightbulbs in the glass light fittings were shaking! The television was moving on the cabinet too....and then we finally lost reception when the aerial came away from the side of the caravan! Parkdean maintenance must really anchor the caravans down well as we were still in one piece in the morning!

It was certainly an experience but not one we would want to repeat.

If you love totally unspoilt coastline, tiny Devon winding lanes and beautiful walks, or are a surfer or have a dog then this would be your own little peace on Heaven....hence why i have rated the park as very good, as there wasn`t anything bad about it...it just wasn`t for us. You really are miles away from anything and the lanes become a bind when you have to keep reversing to the last passing place for the locals. Our children were mortified that there was no mobile phone reception.....and to be honest it all felt too secluded for our family.

Either you are going to love it.....or not......we were just relieved that the approach lane was not made impassable by flooding or uprooted fallen trees as we made our getaway back to civilisation!

beautiful spot, but the acsess road is a nightmare ,well I say "road" its a dirt track and about 5mile long we were stuck on site because the weather was so bad and the lane out is treacherous. the facilities are basic and too small for the amount of people on site ok if you like a drink standing up ,and the entertainment is all for the children.we had no tv reception because of the weather and a note asking us not to use the grill because it was broken? It has fantastic views ,and walks but is basically for surfers . the shop is mega expensive and had no stock because its near the end of the season, but if you want a quite time and early nights its ideal.ps take some cards and games.
