“6th year in a row and still love it”
Reviewed May 28, 2011

20 May 2011 - This is our 6th year in a row to Challaborough Bay and for 4 of those years there were 2 visits during the year. We started off as just a couple but now go as a family. The place is brilliant. Our eldest boy who is 3 loves it. My husband gets very disappointed if we don't got at least once a year.

Roads to the camp are very narrow but we find this quite amusing with all the meeting up of other cars and working out who will be the one to have to back up to the passing place. There is no mobile phone signal when you get there but that to be honest can be a blessing some times!

Some areas of the camp site has had work done on it since last year and the new soft play area for small children is great.

The entertainment staff are very good, and look out for Nat who is great with the children. The beach is just across the very small road from the site and its lovely not to have to walk more than 5 minutes to it.

I think we will still be visiting Challaborough Bay when we are in our pension years!

“Great site & beautiful views.”
Reviewed May 24, 2011

Stayed here for the first time on a cheapie newspaper deal. Wife, 2 daughters & granddaughter. As we live in Torquay it was very nice to see another part of South Devon for a change! We were very impressed with the ethos of Parkdean having spent a less than memorable holiday at a John Fowler park a few years ago. Prices on the site were reasonable & the quality of food was excellant. The entertainment was also recommended by us all. We are looking into buying a caravan here, that's how good we thought it was! The roads are what you would expect in rural Devon or perhaps some of you would prefer to have a motorway right up to the beach? Yes I lived in London most of my life so I understand our roads down here come as a surprise to most city dwellers.

“Great place and lovely location”
Reviewed May 17, 2011

I have been on many sun holidays over the years and had to write a review as like many on here was expecting the worst, but this is one of the best locations i have been on and the sea being in the doorstep literally was fantastic. I had a basic caravan which was far from basis had everything and much more than i have had at other sites. It was very clean and staff were helpful when needed. Would defo recommend to anyone. There are loads of local attractions and the drive to the site has some fantastic views of Dartmoor. I live in Cornwall so am used to stunning views, but have to say Challaborough it up there with the best! Only down point no phone signal if your on orange!! But worth it.

“Super location, great for kids”
Reviewed April 26, 2011

A lovely family holiday can be had at Challaborough bay. Can't fault the location, right on the beach - superb if you have the weather! Facilities on site are good and aren't all nestled together like on Haven sites where you have to walk through the arcade to get to everything (leaving you £5 lighter each time!)
Swimming pol is well maintained and the kids club is good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to book again, though not via the park, we went through E-bay and got a bargain, approx 1/4 of park price, plus the caravan was beautiful also.
Surrounding area is nice and convenient for days out etc- Woodlands theme park approx 30 minutes.
The children will love this park.

“Love it - Fab site”
Reviewed April 24, 2011

I have been to Challaborough Bay for many years even before it was owned by Park Dean. As a child i loved the place and it was much more basic then.

As an adult I still love the site and have holidays there whenever possible. The facilities are much more upto date and continue to improve on a yearly basis.

The roads are country lanes so you can not expext anything other than what you get. I live in Devon and it's something you get used too. Yes you have to be aware of oncoming traffic but you should be doing this anyway.

The caravans are not close together - there is more than enough space between them and the parking is good. All of the caravans I have stayed in (private & site owned) were lovely - very well kept.

All in all I love the place and all my family feel the same. We now take our children to the caravan site where we used to go as children ourselves.
