“Beautiful Guest House, Gorgeous location, Excellent Hosts”
Reviewed September 22, 2009

Stayed at this lovely B&B over a weekend in September 2009. The hosts Mr & Mrs McEwan were very friendly and most welcoming. The bedroom was very clean as was the ensuite bathroom. The food was excellent and plenty of it. Would recommend this B&B to anyone who is travelling in Devon.

We stayed for one night and we were made to feel at home.Pam rang up the Cadleigh Arms to book our evening meal which was very tasty and the pudding was to die for.Next morning after breakfast Jim took us on a tour of their home, and what a home it was, if there was anything missing then Jim would make it!

I found this B&B very relaxing, more like a boutique hotel as the rooms are very large with lovely bathrooms ensuite. Its in an old farmhouse so we really felt we were staying in the country and the views across the exe valley were lovely. The couple that own it were very friendly and helpful about local places to eat (go to the Cadleigh Arms, the food was delicious). Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had at a B&B. Fresh fruit salad and yoghurt and great coffee and the cooked breakfast was yummy without being greesy.

We have just come back from a long weekend in this lovely part of Devon and are suitably "chilled out". Bickliegh is famous for its castle and the Mill, and there are pleasant walks along the river in both directions from the Mill.
We stayed at East Barton B&B, which is just up the road from the Mill and Castle and were afforded a warm welcome, excellent en-suite accommodation and of course that wonderful full English breakfast. Our bedroom window afforded calming views of the river and the sweeping valley pastures.
Apart from the Mill (and opposite, the Fisherman's Cot) there are plenty of inviting local village pubs for lunch and dinner and also a winery (closed when we were there) with lovely views over the valley and an excellent lunchtime menu in the summer. Bickliegh is also very convenient for Exeter and the coast, and Budleigh Salterton also has good cliff walks.

The B&B is in an attractive characterful old farmhouse in Bickleigh, a lovely village in Devon. The twin room my friend and I shared was small, but had everything we needed - ensuite, tea and coffee making facilities and a TV. The beds were comfortable, and the room was quiet.

Breakfast was great, and the owner was helpful.
