This aquarium was the absolute crowning glory of Guernsey for us. Our tour would show us such marvels as specsavers European office, an old BBC mast, a school our driver used to work in, Doris's house, a house that used to have goats and now doesn't. This though, was a 20 minute walk to a pet shop.

This is really an individuals collection of reptiles and fish - housed in an underground tunnel. A lot of the tanks are really far too small for the creatures and it's all a bit amateur. We popped in as my husband was visiting the military museum next door and it was raining - probably wouldn't have bothered otherwise!

I like a good aquarium and this place looked inviting from the outside, Going inside it is like a regular pet shop with a few tanks to go and look at. The building is shabby and floors were wet, some of the tanks werent labelled and others had photos on in black and white that were so faded you couldnt see which fish was which. Youd be lucky if it takes half an hour to go round. But what is most concerning is the conditions for the fish and animals, some tanks seem too small for the fish. And we walked past a lobster and my boyfriend commented 'look its alseep', the next thing someone hands were reaching from behind the tank into the water and picking the unresponsive lobster into a net and carrying it out a back door. RIP poor Bluey. The reptile section was tiny a few tarautulas and reptiles, the size of the enclisures for the reptiles seemed particularly small. I seriously think the RSPCA should take a look at this place, shame as its a good location a bit of a revamp and they could really have something. £4.50 is a rip off, go pay more at a sea life centre and get plenty to see and puts welfare of the creatures first instead of makinga quick buck by getting people to pay to go into their pet shop.

As others have said, this venue needs some attention.

To be fair, it's cheap to get in, but many of the tanks were empty or lacking in signage or had signs that weren't lit and were virtually unreadable.

The staff weren't that interested in us either although they did at least allow a student a reduced entry fee.

It passed 45 minutes and it was quite nice to show my family some of the sealife I'd seen on a day's diving here, but to be a top attraction, the Aquarium needs some serious investment and attention.

Very nice place to visit, it takes only few minutes, maximum one hour. Lot of interesting fish and reptiles to see.
