“Enjoyable Tennerfest Meal”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

Lovely setting, slightly lacking in atmosphere. Food was excellent, very good selection on Tennerfest menu for £15 including coffee. Attentive service and not at all intrusive.

“Bavaria in Guernsey”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Visiting the Conservatory is like a trip to Germany - with the good points about German cuisine, and none of the bad. It is excellent for a tasty light lunch, a lazy tea party etc.

“Nice feel to restaurant, excellent food”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

This was the second year I had been to The Conservatory for a meal during Tennerfest, the annual fixed price food deal. Despite the title, this meal was £15 a person.
Moores is a very traditional, almost dull, looking hotel from the outside.
But The Conservatory is light and airy and modern.
One slight criticism is that it was perhaps too light, not really the place for an intimate meal.
My starter was smoked salmon parcel filled with prawns. Good sized portion, well presented with just the right amount of Marie Rose sauce to dip into.
Main course was steak diane. Perfectly cooked medium rare as I asked for. The sauce came separately, which I was pleased with as I am not a great sauce fan.
The chunky chips were lovely and the onion rings crispy on the outside and very tasty.
Good-sized portion which meant I was pretty full by the time of dessert so stuck to the cheeseboard - nice big chunks of stilton, cheddar and brie with selection of biscuits.
My friend had melon to start and a massive knickerbocker glory for dessert, both excellent she said.
The staff were polite and attentive without being in your face.
The quality of food was as good as ever and the only slight criticisms were of the light levels and it was very warm, but it was a very warm October evening.

“Ate at the Hideaway - fantastic group buffet”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

We asked to arrange a meal for 35 people as a pre- wedding gathering.

food was fantastic - never ending buffet of excellent quality, particularly the sea food!

Price was very very reasonable, staff very friendly and helpful. Huge range of menu and service options. 10 out of 10 all around and would highly recommend to anyone planning a group meal.
