Me and my friend shag arrived at this hotel on a Monday evening we got shown to our room by the manager we arrived in our room and I was greeted to as skidder on my sheet the bath was absolutely discusting along with the whole building. The best thing about this hotel was the door out of the place

Just returned from 3 nights at the Carlton Hotel, which has recently changed ownership.

The room was clean and comfortable with Freeview TV, fridge and complimentary tea/coffee suppiled (enough for the whole weekend!!). Considering the room was upstairs from a busy pub/restaurant we never noticed any noise from downstairs and had 3 good nights of undisturbed sleep. The staff in both the bar and restuarant were very friendly, helpful and made the stay very pleasurable. Either the owner or manager was onsite and available for assistance during the whole of of stay (not that we needed any other services) but they frequently asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything.
The food and service in the restaurant was second to none and the wide variety of meals on the menu as well as their daily specials meant that you could comfortably enjoy a different dish every night even if you stayed for a month!! The serving size left you feeling full and except the last night, when we forced ourself, we were unable to manage a desert after our main meal (thats because we skipped the starter and had an early lunch).
We are planning a return visit with our children in June and the owner has offered to arrange furniture in an adjoining room to suit our family needs.
Nothing too much trouble for the staff in this establishment and definitely great value for money.

Stayed at the Carlton hotel whilst working on the Island. Seven of us stayed at the hotel for seven nights. The hotel rooms are comfortable to stay in, never had any trouble getting a sound nights sleep. Roomy and fresh they were good value for money on the Island.

The food from the bar/lounge area 'The Wicked Wolf' restaurant was exceptional. If you imagine that seven individuals had seven meals at this restaurant (49 meals) every one of them was perfect - no complaints only compliments. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Lovely decked area out the back perfect on a sunny day with cold pint.

All in all thoroughly enjoyable and will be back.

Terrible, terrible, terrible !. We arrived at what looked like a lovely hotel, we parked in the spacious car park and walked past the Italian restaurant and the sun terrace on our way into reception, things we're looking good !! Then it all started to go wrong, the reception area was dark (as was most of the hotel due to the lights being off) and completely un manned, there was a small sign telling us to go to the bar and check in, we went to the bar which would appear is also the reception now, and checked in, we were charged in advance for our rooms and taken up to them, on the way to our rooms we enquired about the Italian and Spanish restaurants in the hotel to be told that they had both closed down "months ago". Upon arrival at our rooms we found them to be very basic and desperately needing a refurb, there were home made glass shelves in the bathroom with sharp edges. None of the towels we were given matched, and the toiletries consisted of 2 small sachets of shower gel and a barbie sized bar of soap. The mattress must have been about 10 years old and the tv could only receive 2 out of the 40 channels that were programmed in. I decided to take a shower but the water pressure was so low that the water only dribbled out, and when you put the shower head up into the holder the water flow stopped completely. We enquired about breakfast for the following morning to be told that it wasn't worth the hotels inconvenience bringing the chef in just for 2 people's breakfasts !. After leaving the hotel the following morning we returned later that day to find that the rooms hadn't been touched, beds not made, bins not emptied and no new toiletries. Upon checking out the next morning there was nobody in the hotel at all so we just left our keys at the reception desk and left !. A thoroughly terrible hotel, however the food in the bar was good, and the bar staff were incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough to help.
