Fantastic location, stylish and recently extended premises with innovative cuisine, the Auberge at Jerbourg has always been a favourite. The food has developed a slightly Oriental fusion feel but for those who are not so Eastern in their tastes there remains an excellent steak menu and the seafood has always been good. Overall the restaurant has probably improved over the years but the service remains dire. We had to wait a very long time to have our order taken although, to be fair we had asked for a little extra time with the wine list when the waitress presented it and hovered at the table apparently waiting for an instant decision. The wine list itself is pretty good so worth a minute or two to peruse, but a tip to other customers, don't ever turn the waitress away as you may not see her again for 45 minutes. In the end we had to revert to the Michael Winner technique of waving a napkin furiously above the head and even this passed our waitress by but we did manage to attract the Maitre d' who deigned to take an order, but not until he had taken some emergency cash to the register and had a chat with the kitchen staff. Once the order was taken the food arrived promptly and was good, but we faced a similar problem with the dessert too. So, in summary, excellent food, wonderful location but the staff could do with some training (I saw no evidence of understaffing!)
