Great views, happy service, nice choice of wines, good value lunch menu. Local food cooked well. Out on a limb in Auberge but a worthwhile cliff top walk (2 hours) from our hotel.

We have recently come back from an enjoyable trip to the island of Guernsey and I am in the process of reviewing several restaurants & our hotel - The Jerbourg.

We asked locals and also the residents in our hotel for a nice place to eat during our 4 day stay and the L'Auberge was mentioned on more than one occasion. It's location to the Jerbourg Hotel was only 5 minutes walk which made it attractive to us, as on previous evenings we paid for taxi's which becomes expensive.

Anyway, we booked a table on Friday 7th June and when we arrived we were seated in the bar area which gave us time to order a drink and select our meal. The choice of food appeared good and the restaurant was very full as you would expect on a Friday evening. The restaurant was extremely modern, clean and had views from the dining room to die for so this was a good start.

We were shown to our table after 20 minutes but then had to wait at least a further 40 minutes for the food to arrive, which we felt was too long. Both my wife & I ordered the veal, along with side orders of green beans & courgettes and when the food did arrive these side dishes were very necessary, as the portions were small - for a growing man at least. We finished our meal and all we could say was the food was satisfactory, we both felt it was extremely overpriced with insufficient food on your plate to feel satisfied and the atmosphere from a full restaurant was very flat - no vibrancy about the place which was disappointing.
To sum up briefly, this restaurant has wonderful views, modern surrounds & a varied menu on offer which is a good start but the food and atmosphere do not match the surrounds. Would go back again to try something else but would go for the deals on offer rather than the Ala Carte menu.

Second time back and the food, service and whole evening was great. A great menu, wine list and restaurant. The best in guernsey by far! Cannot wait to go back.

I had two meals here on my recent trip to Guernsey. I have been here before on previous visits and was therefore expecting high standards and I was not disappointed. The only problem is trying to decide what to eat as everything looks so tempting.

The food and service were exceptional and the chefs must be the best in the Channel Islands! The restaurant itself is beautifully situated, and lunch in the garden with the tremendous views is an experience not to be missed.

Keep up the good work guys!

Meal: 15th May 2013. Party of 3.

Fantastic location and food. All the courses were excellent. The best dessert I have ever had. The bread was so good too.

If you go to Guernsey you must visit this place.

We will certainly return. A special place.
