My husband & I stayed here for 9 glorious nights . The staff are extremely friendly & very helpful on advising us where to go on the island , this was our first time to Jersey , we would definitely stay here again & recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it. For a 3 star hotel it is the best we have ever stayed in, the restaurant is beautiful & the food is of 5 star standard , the waiters take care of you amazingly well. Sitting eating our dinner every night looking out to the beautiful Bouley bay is something very special. This hotel , it's staff & Jersey have given us a wonderful holiday to remember .

I stayed here with my sister for a few days to unwind and chill out. Was so pleased we did give it a chance. I read a lot of the old reviews and was happy to hear that the hotel was going back to the family to look after. It is still very tired looking in some places, but very clean. The staff make up for that and it shines with their care and attention. I would love to go back, has I know they are bringing it back to its former glory. The view is a great start to the day and the staff were so kind and helpful with my sisters dietary needs.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must. We stayed on the fourth floor.

I stayed here with a friend for 6 nights in May. The hotel accommodation was excellent offering all comforts and the room we received overlooking the courtyard was very quiet. A quiet room was requested and this was provided. The reception was welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The check in and out was speedy and trouble free. The breakfasts were excellent offering a wide choice and the cooked breakfast was cooked freshly not from a buffet help yourself. The service was excellent in the restaurant. We chose to eat our evening meals in the Black Dog Pub next door and the quality of the food here was excellent with prices on par with other pubs on the island. Bouley Bay is a lovely spot unchanged over the many years I have been visiting Jersey with many happy memories. I have not stayed in the Waters Edge Hotel before but am pleased I chose to do so. Really good value for the money.

I totally agree with all the 1* reviews here. The location is very good but I would rather sleep on the beach than stay another night in the hotel. Watered down, Rip off prices, falling apart. This hotel would have been out of date in the 1940's! Parking is impossible... The food is dated like the hotel. We will be retuning to Jersey this summer but will not be retuning to this hotel.

We are extremely surprised to read your review posted on the 4 June 2013, following your stay in August 2012, almost one year later! Having been leased to a local hotel group for four years, the hotel reverted back to the owners control in October 2012 and during the winter, until the re-opening on 20 April 2013, extensive repairs and renewals have been undertaken to the guest rooms public areas and kitchens. In addition, within 10 days of opening, we not only regained the 3-star rating lost by the previous hotel group leasing the hotel, we were also awarded the prestigious AA Rosette for 'Fine Dining'. Our reviews since taking over management also reflect this.

It is unfortunate that you have decided to post a review almost one year later since it has changed management and we do hope that you take the opportunity to stop by the hotel during your next visit to see the improvements’

We arranged our holiday with another family, so that we could stay in the same set of apartments (see "We loved it" review, which is hard to add to). It was a fantastic venue, as the children could go to the pebbled beach and climb the island at low tide, or to the swimming pool and games room at the hotel. The appartment was spacious, with balconies and views of the sea. The owner was friendly, courteous and helpful, providing any equipment that we needed (as we had travelled by air to Jersey and hired a car). We all had a wonderful time, and would recommend this wonderful place.

We wanted one of the apartments next to the hotel and belonging to it. We had a fantastic week there with two young children. We could lie in bed and see the sea or sit on the sofa and have a sea view- wonderful. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well appointed. One or two things we needed the hotel manager got them for us the same day. He was courteous, friendly and helpful. The children were able to use the hotel swimming pool and games room. We ate a good meal in the Black Dog pub (part of hotel but different manager) and a lovely meal in the main hotel restaurant overlooking the sea. The location was brilliant and we loved this place.

We returned to the hotel where we started married life to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary.
We had some reservations, after reading what had become of the hotel over the years, but the idyllic spot and wonderful views just cannot be beaten on Jersey and, having to spoken to the new manager on the telephone, we were happy that he was keen to return the hotel to its former glory.
Huge improvements have obviously taken place over the winter closure, although the exterior renovation has yet to be undertaken - delayed by very poor winter weather, we were told.
Our room was comfortable, clean, nicely decorated and furnished with new King-size bed and linen.
It had a spectacular view of the bay and a balcony with patio doors, so we could hear the crashing of the waves.
The restaurant was always this hotel's crowning glory and this did not disappoint with outstanding food and exceptional staff. The bar area has been nicely redecorated to create a smart but relaxed atmosphere alongside the magnificent views of the sea.
We had a great time and wish the new manager and his staff all the best for the season and hope that the good work continues so we can return to this wonderful place for our ruby anniversay.

Room Tip: sea view is a must
