“Great weekend in a great hotel!”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

I have just returned from a long weekend at The Merton and what a great time we had. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. We ate in 2 of the restaurants in the hotel and i have to say that the food is beautiful!!The breakfast is outstanding with so many choices, and all of it looks and tastes delicious. The Belvedere restaurant is where the breakfast is served, and in the evening, it is a buffet style restaurant with different themes each night. We went on "British" night and there was so much choice, it was unbelievable! The other restaurant we ate in was Bonettis (Italian), and although it is a bit more expensive, the food ....and wine.....was beautiful! The evening entertainment was great, having a kids show first, then a tribute act. I can not praise this hotel enough and would defianetly stay here again. Had such a fantastic time.....and really want to go back!

Room Tip: We had adjoining rooms as my son is 14 so was too old for the bed in the family room, but this was a...

We went out of the main season, a week before Easter. The hotel was clean in all areas, the half board rates were extremely good value for money. The evening meals for half board were themed each evening and even if you don't like the theme there was always something to chose from, I often mixed and matched from the 4 serving areas. There were also a good selection of desserts and cheeses to finish off with. The staff always helpful and friendly.
Having a car a definate advantage but not absolutely neccessary as there appears to be a good bus service which covers most of the island.
The beaches were clean and a joy to walk on even out of season.
It looks like all the tourist attractions open from the Easter weekend so we couldn't get into some of the places we wanted to visit.

Myself and my husband stayed here with 2 children aged 8 years and 7 months for a few nights before Easter 2013. First impressions good, staff very friendly and helpful, the room was clean with good storage. We ate in the Italian restaurant and the food was lovely, breakfast is also good with a range of options. We didn't get to use Jersey Joes as it doesn't open until later in the season. The flow rider was a great attraction for my son, who spent a lot of time on there! I have only two criticisms of this hotel, the first being the pool temperature - for a leisure pool it could do with being a few degrees warmer. Secondly the rooms are not particularly well soundproofed, especially from above when children are running around and jumping off beds (staff were very responsive when we asked them to have a word with the noisy guests). Overall a very positive experience and we would return!

Lovely welcome, some of the friendliest staff I have come across. Quality of the hotel accomodation also a pleasant surprise for what is afterall advertised as a 3 star hotel. The pool facilities are great although the water temperature sporadic and I heard a number of guests comment it was colder than they had expected. Certainly fell a long way short of subtropical! The florider was a real hit and a very unusual addition to the hotel, very good value compared to what you have to pay elsewhere and only available in a handful of expensive resorts across the UK. We did eat in one of the restaurants and the food was good, as was the service, not particularly expensive either. One issue we did have was the sound proofing of our room and the room above meant there was quite a bit of disturbance on our final night (although less of an issue on other nights). I did call reception and that seemed to help. We stayed at a relatively quiet time but I can imagine the hotel is much busier / noisier in the summer months when the pool and florider will mean the place will be a huge hit with children and families in particular.

I stayed at the Merton Suites for 2 months while on secondment with work and they were utterly excellent. Spotlessly clean, very modern and with lovely sea views if you're on a high enough floor. Quiet - with staff at the nearby Aquadome helpful and friendly. There were a few issues with the internet - it ran slowly and kept losing connection - staff tried to resolve the issues but it remained a bit patchy until the end of my time there. That aside - these suites are wonderful and in a great location - 2 minutes from Howard Davis Park and 10 minutes walk from St Helier. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The fifth floor has lovely sea views - on a clean day!

Thank you very much for your positive review of The Merton Suites. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and hope that we will be able to welcome you back on many future occasions.
With regard to your comments concerning the inconsistency of the internet service provided we have traced the cause to a situation where one or more guests could be using the service more heavily than others – i.e. downloading games, movies etc rather than purely for emails, web browsing or work related operations.

We are currently installing a ‘smoothing’ system to ensure all guests have equal connection speeds that will continue to be available on a complimentary basis for normal type usage. This system will be in place by the end of March once we have thoroughly tested it.

We hope that next time you visit you will notice a marked improvement in the internet services we offer.

Thank you again for your very kind comments.

Our family of four including our son (13yrs) and daughter (19yrs), stayed in a family suite at the Merton for a weekend.

Everything was a delight, from the rooms, to the food and especially the staff.

Exceptionally clean, fantastic food and customer service second to none, made it a wonderful birthday celebration for our son.

The weather wasn't very good, but the pool and flume was a relaxing way to spend an afternoon - it was enjoyed by us all.

Will certainly be back.

The Merton is a very good hotel with lots of activities for children. With a indoor and outdoor pool, flowrider, games room and clubs.
The rooms are pretty average. With old and tired bed sheets and lumpy beds and old decor there isn't much to like
The food id very good, with a large buffet which caters for all, a Italian style restaurant, a lounge bar and a American style dinner.
with a 10-15 minute walk to the capital
