“A bargain stay”

This hotel was very good value for money - clean and comfortable with very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was fair but I only ate once in the restaurant during my stay and found the food
disappointing.

We stayed for five nights in February. At £19.50 per person per night bed and full breakfast in a sea view room with the facilities of a swimming pool/whirlpool/sauna and just a short walk from the centre of St Helier, it would be hard to beat for value. The hotel is being redecorated throughout and our room had obviously been done recently. The pool area had just been finished (which probably explains the comment about the temperature from a reviewer a few days earlier - it was very warm when we visited). Swimming towels were provided at Reception with no problems. The pool is a good size, a uniform depth of 3ft 10in throughout so ideal for supervised children, and has good changing facilities/shower etc.

A fussy person could find things to complain about. Yes, the two car parks are small for the size of the hotel and having to leave car keys at Reception to allow staff to juggle cars around is not ideal but it is a town centre hotel. One of the lights in our room wasn't working when we arrived but after a word with the Receptionist it was working the next day. One of the Reception staff spoke little English but there was always someone else on hand to help. The only evening meals are in the bar and the menu is limited (especially the set menu which is the only one available to those on half board); we ate there twice and one meal was only adequate whilst the other was better but not brilliant - but here too the price was reasonable (£12 for the three course set menu). Note that they stop serving food quite early (8:30pm). My wife found the bed a bit hard although I was comfortable enough so it is really a matter of preference. Jersey Electricity were busy digging up the road outside which was causing traffic chaos but that's not the fault of the hotel and only a temporary inconvenience - the noisy work did not start until 8:00am.

On the plus side, the location opposite the beach is great and frequent buses (routes 1 and 1A from St Helier to Gorey) stop outside. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, Ben and the rest of the breakfast team in the restaurant were always willing to provide whatever we asked for, and the cleaner ensured we were well stocked with tea and milk in the room when we said we liked several cups a day. There are other much better eating places nearby (the excellent White Horse is only across the road and it is just 300 metres to the Roseville Bistro) and there are many more not much further away in St Helier town. Le Dicq Thai Shack is also directly across the road but although it looked enticing it only does takeaway in the winter because its only seating is on picnic tables on the beach.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are on the road frontage overlooking the car park so one may be a trade off against t...

The reception area is modern and the downstairs facilities are .. but that's where it stops. Room was bog standard and over priced. Stayed a better Travelodges. Food was average. Parking was appalling- considering we stayed mid February... wouldn't fancy parking mid- season. Request for swimming towels went ignored. Strong smell of varnish in corridor leading to our room for duration of stay. Reported it and was told it would be investigated ..heard no more, bit like the towels that we were promised..had to phone wife in room to bring supply down to pool. Work to flat roof outside window every day causing smell and noise. No privacy apart from a dirty piece of net curtain in the bathroom...avoid switching light on at night because it so doesn't offer any privacy then. Bunk beds used by grandchildren were very rickety, had to put top bunk mattress on floor for youngest child to feel safe enough to sleep on. Enough said won't be returning to this Hotel.

Room Tip: try another hotel.. perhaps The Merton ( unfortunately it was closed out of season)

A hotel with staff who tried to do their best with what they'ed got. My room was lovey and big, however the windows didn't close and was kept awake most of the night by wind noise. It is a good location for st hellier if the weather would have been better. The food was excellent I'm sure the chef is very talented , but was let down a bit by the untrained waiting staff, (as per the rest of jersey using nothing but untrained Eastern European staff). The price was reasonable especially for rip off jersey, tax free my a"se. Good sea views too

It was my first trip to the Jersey, my fiance has been several times before. I thought that it was good value for money. All staff were friendly but i was particularly impressed with Debbie the general manager. After a receptionist ignored our request after one night our room was windy and we had cold water in the shower. On the second night we were moved to a ground floor room, I was a bit disapointed about the twin beds but slept well and stayed an extra two nights making five in total. We found the pool very cold and there were mixed messages about when it would be open. We finally used the jacuzzi on the final day.

Overall we had a great time and liked the breakfasts.

For £26pn you really can't complain. The staff were friendly & helpful (especially the tall & very attractive English girl on reception), the breakfast was more than adequate, the bar area was nice, and the location is excellent if you need to visit the town centre (travel tip, it's much faster to walk into town via Snow Hill tunnel than it is via La Colomberie).

Good points about my room, it was large & warm, there was plenty of hot water, the wifi coverage was excellent, and the freeview TV was fine.

Bad points about my room, it really needed a coat of paint, the water pressure was low, there were quite a few draughts through gaps in the window frames.
