We were in Jersey for a family wedding. One of the planned activities for the "wedding week" was a day of surprises where we didn't know where we were going or what we going to do. Our family, the bride and groom, the bridesmaids, and a friend or two were picked up at our hotel in the morning by a restored 1960's Austin Healey lorry truck driven by it's really nice owner. It was a bit cool but the sun was shining and we had a fun ride through the spectacular countryside to La Mare Wine Estate where we had the wine tour. It started in the vineyard itself, then we went inside to see where the wine was actually made. After the informative tour we went outside to the courtyard for the tastings. We had a lovely time and enjoyed the tour giving by a lovely young lady.
Next, we went to the restaurant where our table was ready for us outside. By now, it had warmed up and and we had perfect weather for al fresco dining. Being Americans, we were quite thrilled to be having a Jersey Cream Tea experience. The food was fabulous! And they kept bringing out more and more. Several of us were gluten-intolerate and there was whole trays of sandwiches made with gluten-free breads. It was a wonderful day.
La Mare was also the site of the wedding reception. Again, the weather was perfect. Cocktails were served on the lovely grounds by the granite estate home which is also a fantastic backdrop for wedding photos. Then we moved indoors for dinner and dancing. The venue, the food, the staff, everything was just wonderful. If there was anything that wasn't perfect I don't know what it could have been. Just brilliant!

We visited this attraction for the first time this year and it was a bit better than we thought. It is very expensive to get in but we used our Jersey Passes.

The car park is good; cafe has poor choice of food and is very expensive; toilets OK; shop good - stock up on the wines and chocolate you have tasted on your tour!

The tour was shorter than expected and hardly any time was spent outside near the vines, which I personally would have found more interesting. The emphasis was more on the tasting than the actual procedures.

You will watch a short video while you taste the wines (a white, a red and a rose). You will then move on to the factory area where you will taste an apple brandy and some chocolate. If you don't want to have the alcohol in the wine tasting section, ask for juice.

Caught the bus up to La Mare which gave us 2 hrs maximum stay and this was sufficient time to view the vineyards and take part in the tour and tasting. It cost £8.50 to get in which included the tour this finishing in an excellent stocked shop.
The wine was reasonably priced and quite tasteful.
La Mare also has an excellent restaurant.
The bus came to pick us up at the right time - from experience, Jersey buses always run and are on time!!

Four of us visited the wine estate and enjoyed the vineyard tour and the talk in the distillery.
Having visited several whisky distilleries in Scotland, this 'tour' seemed very short.
Our visit was made complete though by the excellent cream tea which we enjoyed in the outdoor dining area. The scones were the best I've ever tasted and the black butter with them was fantastic!

The view was fantastic from the wine estate. We felt the tour wasnt really a tour as it was 5 minutes by the grape vines then straight to the tasting which was very informative, if not slightly overcrowded as most of our party had to stand. Also with such a large group it did make Steve our tour guide harder to hear.
Steve was full of knowledge and make the tasting good
Shame we couldnt try the cider or brandy without a extra cost.
