“Perfection for our first family holiday!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2011

Right from the minute we arrived at the campsite the staff were friendly & the owners very willing to do anything to help you. We chose a pre-erected tent as we were holidaying for the first time & with our 15 month old girl. It was very nice to know that whatever the weather we could turn up & not have to worry about her. The weather was amazing & I know that does help with your overall holiday experience. The tent was well equipped & I too agree with another comment that the mattresses did need to be changed as they were uncomfortable, but we were camping not in a hotel so I just accepted this! If I wanted 5* luxury then I shouldnt be in a tent!
All in all a excellent holiday, great campsite & we are planning a return (but for longer) next year!

We have just spent a pleasant week at the Rozel Camping Park. In the main, we agree with other positive reviews, however we would draw issue with the mattresses in our equipped tent; and indeed the beds. They were plain 3 inch pieces of foam, which in truth had seen better days. I don't object to foam as a mattress, but being a grown man I need more support when the bed has a piece of board covering the worn-out springs and planks. Also, the pillowcases and sleeping bags had passed their sell-by date. The facilities, although good enough, weren't adequate for the amount of campers and one inevitably had to queue. If you need to use the washing machine and dryer, be prepared for a very long wait as there are only 2 of each. I would reiterate that this campsite is good, and I could recommend anyone to stay there, but these points need to be addressed.

Spent a fantastic long weekend camping at Rozel. Me and my best mate and both our boys (13 & 11 yrs) pitched our tent, first time we have ever put up a tent, and there were a few mistakes! But these were easily sorted by the site owner, who willingly helped us, lent us a stove and kettle and was generally smiley and cheerful! Note, you can only hire equiptment here if you rent the whole tent and full facilities - which looked amazing, but at a price! Our pitch was quiet and just far enough away from the toilet facilities to enjoy the peace. On site the pool was great, good size and great entertainment for kids! Toilets clean and had plenty loo roll and hand soaps. Showers were plentiful and masses of hot water. No on site restaurant so come prepared with BBQ etc. Lovely pub, The Rozel in the bay at bottom of hill, 10 min walk, food was great and reasonable. Another option is to order hot stuff pizza who happily delivered to site! Stay here, you will have relaxing great time, especially if sun shines!!

We stayed here the first week of the school holidays, so expected it to be busy. But even at full capacity (towards the end of the week) the campsite didn't feel crowded. I have worked around many UK campsites and in the summer season you can practically touch the next tent, needless to say this is not the case with Rozel. All the sites are well spaced with plenty of room to park your car.

We actually went glamping (pre-erected tent) as with 3 kids, one being 6 months it was far easier to have it all set up (high chair and travel cot included). We were placed in the middle field opposite the shower blocks, and with sun all day. The tent itself was very well stocked and clean with (electricity, fridge, ice box)

The site staff are extremely welcoming and you are made to feel that nothing is too much trouble. The shop is well stocked and the bread and pastries are the perfect start in the morning.

We were also totally happy to let the kids disappear off and explore the campsite knowing that they were safe. In the evening there can be a bit of noise around but I found this had stopped by 1030pm. The showers and washing areas were regularly cleaned and we never had to queue, also a plentiful supply of hot water.

The Rozel Inn just a 10 minute walk away down the hill is also a must.

What a wonderful campsite! Clean and not too overcrowded even in the middle of the holiday season. Site is set across three fields with a mixture of ready constructed tents (glamping) and pitches for those with their own tents. Run by a very friendly family who will go out their way to help (even opening up the shop when it's closed and allowing you to run up a tab. Shower blocks and toilets are clean with plenty of hot water and the outside pool is a draw on hot days. Shop sells bread and pastries every morning along with all the other necessities and is reasonably priced. There is a TV and games room but bizarely the mini golf is free while you have to buy bats for the ping pong. Campsite is very popular with young families and children will often be seen running about and playing. This might put off older campers in search of some peace and quiet. On that note the only criticism I would make is that there were some nights when children would run around and make a lot of noise well after dark (when younger children were trying to get to sleep). Perhaps families could be asked to tone the noise down after 8pm?

From the moment we arrived to the end of our stay the owners of the site were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. This started with being walked to our pitch and being asked if we wanted bread and a paper for the morning.

The pitch itself was huge and we were lucky enough to have a hedge on two sides of our tent which helped shelter us from the wind which was unusually strong during our stay. With 3 kids we were also very happy to have been positioned within view of the children's play area. The field we pitched in was split into smaller areas and sections by hedge rows which gave a more private feel to the campsite which we really liked. We booked electric and this was right next to the tent and there were plenty of water taps around the site so there was always one close by.

We were also very happy with the facilities, the toilet block was always clean and the showers were always hot. We didn't once have to queue or wait but in the summer this may be different. There are 4 showers and toilets in the mens block and 2 family shower rooms. There were plenty of dishwashing sinks and also a clothes washing room which had all you would need and required a combination of coins and tokens. The kids loved the play area and the swimming pool. The pool was quite cold but not so much that you couldn't use it and the kids didn't seem too bothered. We didn't get to use the games room or TV room but these would have been useful additions had the weather been bad.

The shop opened at set times so you had to be aware of these times. It was great to be able to order the bread and papers and the baguettes and croissants were delicious. Apart from this great option the shop seemed to stock sufficient supplies although we were never in need of any extra supplies.

It's fair to say that we haven't got extensive experience of campsites across the UK but this was easily the best one we have stayed at. We had a great time in Jersey and we are already looking forward to returning to the island and to this campsite.

Room Tip: I would request to stay in the first field to be nearest to the shower/toilet block and the play are...
