As always a great holiday. we go for six weeks a year and can not fault it. The people that seem to run down this guest house down should go to some where that caterers for all there needs and pay for it through the nose. we have a good hearty breakfast sets you up for the day. a laugh with lee who likes a joke but other people have no sense of humour. if you want a clean place to lay your head with clean towels every day then this is it .Can,t wait for next year. keep up the good work John Annie and Lee not forgetting our Mo.

As usual a very pleasant stay. The place is spotless and John and Lee are friendly and helpful ,the breakfast is superb . The hotel is situated in a very handy position for the town and major facilities. I would have no qualms in recommending the Kensington to any future clients.

The Kensington was recommended to me by several colleagues who travel to the island frequently. When I looked up the Kensington and saw the photos and tariff, I decided to book. I'm glad I did. John and Annie could not be more accommodating and gracious. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic. One of the better full English breakfasts I've had. The location was perfect. Could hardly believe the cost considering my level of satisfaction. Would have easily paid more, but won't tell John or Annie that. This will be the place for my wife and I to stay when we return for what will be several more visits. Thank you Kensington.

We received a warm & friendly welcome by a gentleman and we were shown to our room. He informed us "that breakfast is served between 8am & 9am, not a minute earlier or a minute later!"

A musty smell and the noise from the street below hit us first.
The bathroom was small & dated with a very noisy extractor fan & a loose toilet seat.
The bed was ok although you had to be careful not to sit in the middle as you could feel the central bar, fortunately this wasn't a problem when lying down.
The window was difficult to open & close...
The carpet was vacuumed but it would appear that the bedside tables hadn't been moved for sometime as we found a bracelet left by a previous guest.
Tea and coffee facilities provided and it was great to have a hairdryer.

For breakfast there was a choice of cereals, juices and toast. A cook breakfast was also an option.

The proprietor has taken a great deal of time to make the outside of the guest house look inviting with beautiful hanging baskets. The entrance hall and guest lounge (which we discovered as we were leaving!) was well presented, shame this standard isn't continued throughout the guest house.

This establishment is certainly convenient for St Helier shops and attractions. The Liberation Bus Station is just short walk away.

It might just be me, but as this property has earned a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for 2013, my expectations were high even though there are a few negative reviews. At the very least I expected there to be minimal toiletries, instead there was a small bar of Pears soap to go with the sink and the shower. As stated elsewhere, the integral toilet and shower are small to say the least ( indeed there was a strong musty smell in the toilet/shower area in room 2, which we occupied for the first two nights). On the first night, room was stifling after a hot day and as it was Saturday, there was revelling going on until after 4am, so having windows open was not an option. Double glazing didn't help with the noise either in all truth, which is why we asked to move for our remaining 2 nights.2nd room was at back of hotel so I personally had a much better night's sleep plus the night was fresher anyway. The manager had no qualms with our moving as the hotel was not fully occupied. Breakfast was fine, but limited - not sure they were freshly prepared as egg yolks were hard, but I may be wrong - choice of four cereals in glass jars ( no boxes to indicate the brand) ,various juices but no alternative to the full English. Couldn't get away from the impression that everything was done on the cheap....and so my search for a hotel I would return to in Jersey goes on Maybe fourth time lucky?.......

Room Tip: Room 12 was ok. Room 2 can be noisy at weekends.

This was our third visit to the Kensington whilst visiting relatives in St Helier. The location is really good, minutes from all the shops, restaurants and bars in the town. The breakfasts were a good start to the day. Bedrooms comfortable with small wc/shower room separated from room by a sliding door, tv with freeview. Free Wi Fi in conservatory area or rear bedroom on 1st floor which is where we stayed.
All in all i would recommend this guest house for pleasant staff, good breakfast and most of all the location from the town and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
If you are looking for a luxury hotel, then this isn't the place for you, but if you want clean, comfortable accommodation in a good location with a good breakfast then I would recommend you stay here.

Room Tip: We stayed at the front the first time but it was bit noisy in the evenings. The last two visits we...

Good location with short walk to main shopping area, bus station, waterfront development and beach. Room was basic but clean and more than adequate. Friendly service and nice breakfast in the morning. Overall a good value guest house, which I would use again.
