“Family Run with A ++++ Hospitality”
Reviewed April 13, 2011

We have stayed at the Mornington more than once and will return time and time again The owners Christine & Philip who run the Hotel are fantastic as are their friendly, efficient staff On this last trip we had a family crisis and they couldn't have done more to help us They always go above and beyond to make their guests welcome and comfortable The rooms are cleaned every day We have stayed in higher graded hotels that haven't been as clean as the Mornington Breakfast is Continental and huge !! and sets you up for the day We highly recommend this Hotel to anyone who is looking for friendliness, comfort, good food and easy access to St Helier (walking distance into town) What more can we say except well done Christine & Phil Awesome Hoteliers Thank You

We experienced two days with great service and hospitality.Being able to have breakfast half an hour earlier than the set time was invaluable. And what a breakfast!! When our waitress asked us halfway through cereals and coffee/hot chocolate croissants and toasts what we wanted for breakfast we hardly believed our ears. Then we realised that she was referring to the different platters, with fruit, cheese and fruit and ham and cheese..........
Great location as well.

It's quaint, it's quirkey, it's off the wall, it's Rolling Stones meets Hello Hello. If it had a make over it would lose all of its character. From the cork lined passages to the oversizede picture of the 'Stones' in the bar this is a place not to be missed. The rooms are clean and comfortable but the ones on the front can be noisy with the traffic passing by. The owners and the staff are friendly, pleasant and efficient. The breakfast is superb, although not cooked it satisfies all tastes and there is plenty of it. Some holiday makers have been returning for years, a good recommendation. Five minutes from the centre of town and a mirriad of very good eateries. Ten minutes from the sea front. If you want a modern 'comfy box room' hotel with all mod cons, go somewhere else. If yu want clean, comfortable and excellent value for money stay at The Mornington. I would recommend it to certain friends although not to all. I would definately stay here again.

We've just got back today from a short break at this hotel. Yes the decor is dated but so what. The hotel was spotlessly clean. The owners and staff were all really friendly and very interesting with lots of tales to tell. The bar is really cool with loads of amazing Rolling Stones pics adorning the walls. The breakfast was gorgeous with cereal, Jersey yoghurt, croissant, toast, homemade marmalade(made by Christine the owner) and preserves and platters of fruit, cheese and ham all delicious. The hotel is situated in a lovely spot over the road from the park and once you've mastered the confusing town centre one way system it is quite easy to get to. Don't be put off by the quirky decor the hotel is a lovely place to stay. The owners and staff cannot do enough for you and are so friendly and cheerful. Some of the bigger hotel chains should send their staff here for some training in customer service.

We have just returned from a 5 night break in the Mornington. We picked it for it's central location in St Helier (we used to live in Jersey but up in Trinity). We read a few other reviews which were a bit "doom and gloom" but we had a really good stay. We were given a four-poster bedroom which was small but we don't feel you need anything bigger, it was kept very clean with chambermaid service each day. We were impressed with the breakfast, each person has the choice of a platter each ( fruit, cheese or ham and cheese) which I only managed one day but my husband had one every morning, this was accompanied by beverages, juice, croissants, cereals, toast, lovely Jersey yogurts and very friendly staff. The hotel decor may be a bit dated ( as read on a review) but the friendliness, cleanliness and overall experience way make up for that.

I stayed at the mornington hotel for 8 nights bed and breakfast at the end of april , nice staff from columbia (waitress) poland (barmaid) and madeira (chambermaid) breakfast is excellent fruit cheese and ham toast croissants toast cereal , room had bath/shower tv tea/coffee making wifi and there was a bar open in the evenings , There was parking for 4 cars at the back of the hotel and the hotel has a lift. I think the owners are rolling stones fans as the bar was covered in photos of the rolling stones . I would recommend this hotel and would stay their again .

We had expected some special treatment as my wife and I were on a short vacation for our 40th (Ruby) anniversary and the travel agent had informed them of this. However on arrival there was no mention of it and we were given a room with single beds would you believe! But after some haggling and a view of two other rooms we finally accepted the room with a four poster bed (room 28), which unfortunately turned out to be the hardest bed we have ever tried to sleep in, honestly we may as well have slept on the floor! Other than this it was a pleasant enough stay, the staff were very nice, the continental breakfast was good, although a full English would have been nice on at least one day. The hotel is very clean but dated and needs a refurbishment. The four parking spaces at the rear are extremely tight even for a small car like ours and there is no rear entrance. All in all somewhat disappointing, 5 out of 10.
