“Our July visit to Jersey.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2014

Convenient hotel close to the beach and the town (15 min walk). Also close to the bus stop which was very helpful for us as my dad of nearly 90 years was not able to do the walk in to the town. We stayed half board and the meals both at breakfast and in the evening were excellent and very substantial. We purchased the afternoon bus tour for the Sunday afternoon. Very worthwhile and interesting with quite a few comfort stops. The owner and his partner were very helpful and always made time to chat to my elderly father. A very pleasant time.

On arrival we had to ring bell at reception and wait a few minutes, the girl who came was very nice. Our room had a great sea view but there was a bad smell on occasions which may have been the seaweed or the drains. You could also see the power station which wasn't so attractive. The room and en suite was reasonably clean. The shower was pathetic and the water was never hot only warm. There is no bar on the second floor only a drab lounge with a verandah about 2 feet wide which is used by smokers. The so called "alfresco deck" has it's tables on a public path. Breakfast was the usual offerings and was very busy when we were there so there wasn't much conversation with the staff who i'm sure would have been friendly if they had the time. There was no entertainment as advertised while we were there. If you walk into town it's best to go up Roseville Street as taking the tunnel route is noisy and busy with traffic. It will take a reasonably fit person about 20 minutes. There are buses too going past the hotel.

Room Tip: best rooms are on the waterfront as you avoid noise from pub across the street and traffic

The hotel is not in an attractive area. It has a power station at one end of the beach and tower blocks at the other end. The surrounding area to the hotel is a bit shabby and the hotel itself is in an unattractive building. The public area of the hotel is dated and needs money spent on it. The bedroom was fine in a B&B styled sort of way but the bathroom would benefit by being modernized. It is well placed for getting around. It is an easy walk into St Helier or the bus stop is just around around the corner. The hotel was clean and I liked to hear the waves right outside the bedroom window. The welcome for breakfast was unfriendly, the breakfast buffet poorly presented and not appealing. The cooked English breakfast was very good. It was just about OK for one night but I would not return nor recommend it.

I was given this hotel due to my other hotel overbooking.. I had a tiny room over looking an incinerator.. Reception was nowhere to be seen on arrival and when did show..I felt I was an inconvenience.... Food was good..but overall stay unsatisfactory.. Certainly would choose somewhere else next time..worth spending the extra just to get friendly staff!!

hotel was clean and comfortable bathroom needs upgrading with a thermostatic shower
it would have been nice to have had a meal when we arrived we waited for 15 mins and got fed up waiting for menu and went elsewhere
the breakfast tray on the last day was very poor cerial with warm milk
also noise from traffic as mentioned in other reviews and noise from pub across the road

Room Tip: have a room at the rear away from traffic and pub

Stayed here for one week 19th July. From the minute I booked with Geoff his customer service was second to none. We took my husbands parents and our 15 year old son, so needed three rooms next to each other. I rang direct and Geoff was more than willing to accommodate.
We had two double sea view and a single side sea view. All were clean and tidy. Only one small gripe was our toilet took ages to fill. Would have liked a fridge in the room to keep water chilled.

We had breakfast every day which on the whole was good and ate in the restaurant twice (both times exceptional food served. Louis (sorry I think that's his name) who is serving 730 in the morning until late at night is Geoffs best asset as far as we are concerned.

Thanks Geoff for a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: Get a full seeview room. Well worth the extra.
