Mayfair Hotel

It's always a pleasant surprise when you turn up at your selected Hotel to find out the standard is better than expected. And that's exactly what I found at the 3* Mayfair. The reception & public area's are bright, clean & airy. Staff were courteous and very helpful. Although in the restaurant, they were sometimes a little slow in taking orders.
The rooms are fresh, newly decorated and well supplied.
The only minor point was that the Hotel has obviously been expanded over the years and finding rooms can lead to what can appear to be a short expedition. With limited lifts, at peak periods, it's easier to take to the stairs.
Overall, a pleasant stay, close to the town centre (5 min walk), and I'm keen to stay again to explore more of this wonderful island. The Mayfair is a good base from which to do just that.

Room Tip: Depending on your mobility all rooms are ok, but lift is slow to upper floors if you need it.

I think I would find if very difficult to say anything bad about this hotel. The only slight thing for me would bee that it is a good walk to the town centre/bus station.
We travelled as part of a Travel Solutions package and it was well organised. A warm welcome from the hotel staff on arrival.
The room was clean and kept that way every day, with tea/coffee/chocolate makings replenished as necessary.
Dining room - help yourself cereals, juice, fruit. The main part of the breakfast offered a Full English and it certainly was full if you went for it. Otherwise you could make your own election from the items offered. Fresh kippers were available if you like them. Porridge also on request.
Dinner was waitress/waiter service an again a super menu with a starter (choice of two) then Soup. A choice of four different mains including a meat salad which was huge and very fresh. Finally 3 sweet choices before tea/coffee. Our waitress for the week was Tanya and she was super efficient.
Each evening there was some form of entertainment and a variety of performers during the week. Some nights there was a game or two of bingo before the main acts came on. Overall the entertainment was good, The comic magician stood out as best of the week.
Free Wi-Fi in the reception area and two computers there for the free use of guests.
Pool, Jacuzzi and Steam room with towels provided free. Good facility as was the gym room.
Coffee shop available at certain times with a pleasant atmosphere and again good service by the staff.
If I was to return to Jersey, I would certainly return to this hotel again without hesitation.

Room Tip: We had room 239 which was spacious enough for a couple and nice and quiet.

Booked this as part of a package , Flight & accommodation cost seemed reasonable for 7 days.We opted to pay a surcharge for a suite as we were a family of 3 (with a 5 yr old), and once our wee one was in bed the idea being we could relax and watch TV without disturbing her, well that was a disaster..... We were given a standard double room with a travel cot set up in the corner under the TV, so after what felt like World War 3 trying to get the suite I paid for we were given what can only be described as a larger room with a settee bed, my little girl felt scared to sleep in such an old looking uncomfortable excuse of a bed , so slept in with us until I prepared myself for another discussion with an unhelpful / rude / patronising receptionist . Finally got the settee bed changed to a proper single bed.....but no way is this worth paying a surcharge for as it defeats the purpose of being a suite...It is a large room not a suite. The food (if on the half board option) is of a basic standard .....Eat out at your own cost if you can. The swimming pool and gym are excellent and would make me think these are operated independently from the rest of the hotel. There was a 'kids club' but apparently this week we stayed they did not have enough kids staying in the hotel to run the club shame as the breakfast room appeared to have at least 15-20 kids in it each morning. I'd give this hotel a 2 star rating, one for location and one for the leisure facilities. Cleanliness was good , room was cleaned and fresh towels every day.I would Not recommend it and doubt I'd stay again.

This hotel is above all excellent value for money. I would recommend it for whoever wants to spend a pleasant time in Jersey in a comfortable hotel at a reasonable hotel: breakfasts are good, infrastructure is impressive with a game room, pool, steam room, bar, free internet and more. Mayfair can improve though: -Reception staff could smile more, more especially a blond lady, representative for the group, who was flirting with arrogance. The hotel seems to welcome very large group of tourists which may explain why the reception service is very impersonal. -Staff training and attention to details:one of the receptionists confirmed to us that we could have our breakfast ready to take away on our day of departure, early in the morning. He seemingly took note without asking us our room number. On D-Day, at 5am in the morning, the breakfast had not been prepared. -The bedcovers/curtains could do with a bit of updating, communal areas too.-Noise insulation: we were above the dinner/dancing room, so every evening until 11pm, we could hear loud music - very motel-like.

I thought it would be good to highlight some of the negatives for this hotel as most reviews are very positive. I would say this hotel is rather a 2 star hotel which gets a third star due to the impressive infrastructure, buffet, restaurant. So overall good value for money. Would recommend it if you want a pleasant time and save money.

Room Tip: Do not choose the 159 on the first foor, above dancing floor.

Booked over the phone after seeing an advert in our local paper. Impressed with how they dealt with our booking. Picked up at airport and arrived at hotel, reception staff friendly, room excellent but noisy outside from traffic. Breakfast good choices and entertainment at night.

Room Tip: Ask for room at front of hotel, maybe a bit quieter.

My wife and I stayed half board 15th to 22nd June 2013, booked as a package holiday with Travel Solutions. Spacious room with huge king size bed and a single also. The room was 157 at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park and was quiet and peaceful. Food for both breakfast and dinner was excellent. At breakfast you help yourself to juices, fruits, cereals etc and there is waiter service for your main hot breakfast option. Dinner is waiter service. Victor, our waiter, was a wonderful guy and nothing was too much trouble. He was quick and efficient and a credit to the hotel. All the staff were very pleasant and eager to please, they were mainly from mainland Portugal and Madeira. Drink prices were the same as home and there was free wifi in the reception/lounge area, they also had 2 computers for guests to use, free of charge. Coach trips can be organised by the hotel, £20 per person for a day around the coastal route of the island, £18 per person for an inland tour. A return bus trip to the underground German hospital is £6 and entrance around £11.50 per person. It's worth seeing. Most of the shops are closed on Sundays, so there is not a lot to do if you are a shopaholic on this day. For us a week was more than enough, we pretty much saw everything, since we hired a car for three days at a cost of £79 direct with Avis (cheaper than the hotel). The residents at the hotel during our week were mainly senior citizens but all great fun and out to enjoy themselves. Not great if you have young children, I expect. Really enjoyed our short stay at The Mayfair.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, it's quieter.
