“Excellent food excellent staff”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

We stayed here as part of a coach tour for five days. The room itself was a little bit dated but very clean and was cleaned every day. Good facilities and good shower. The evening meal was lovely. A very good selection of food and of excellent quality, highly recommended. Breakfast had a very good selection. The staff at the hotel were excellent and provided an excellent service and went out of their way to help in any way possible. The staff make the hotel!

Thank you for your review of our Norfolk Lodge Hotel. Your comments in respect of our staff are much appreciated.

We are a traditional AA Three Star Hotel and offer a great range of facilities including large public lounges, entertainment and a professionally maintained indoor swimming complex.

In addition, we provide an all day menu and an all day bar service. One added feature, which is rare in St.Helier, is our entry controlled car park for our valued guests - which is free of charge.

Thank you once again.

I give this hotel 10/10 because I cannot fault it, from the accommodation, staff, food & cleanliness. On day 1 of our arrival till our last day the staff were always so very pleasant, & cudnt do enough to help us. It is a 3star hotel, but I would say its more a 4 star!! It is situated quite close to town so no need for transport, but in a quiet area so not noisy. I will definately book a stay there again. Top Hotel........

My wife and myself honeymooned in Jersey in 1967and decided we ought to go back fof our anniversay, I cannot speak for other rooms but ours was clean and tidy and I think recently refurbished as the bathroom was priisteen with an exellent shower one of the best ever
The waiters and bar staff were mostly Polish very efficient and could not do enough to help you,we only had one meal at hotel a bar meal which was hot and tasty ,the main resteraunt offered two courses for £16 or three for £20 which isthe going rate for Jersey if not cheap mostly we paid £45 to £50 for two courses wich included a couple of drink
The small swimming pool was warm and clean but the jacuzi was not working but we did not ask it to be switched on towels from reception
The breakfast was what you would hope for buffet hot and cold with cereals toast and pastrys you could order kippers porridge and other things from the kitchen
The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the town centre if you walk reasonably quick
We used the local buses and found drivers friendly and helpfull all the fares I paid were £1.70 that included to the airport which run every 15minutes from Liberation bus station

Room Tip: Our romm was number 49 on ground floor close to swimming pool and not far from breakfast

My wife and I took a short break to Jersey in September 2013. We were looking for a good value hotel close to the town of St Helier. We were attracted to the Norfolk Lodge by other TripAdvisor reports commenting on the friendliness of the hotel staff. The pool was an additional advantage.

The positives were: the hotel is within easy walking distance of the town, and there is good free hotel car parking.

The negatives were: The staff were not particularly friendly - but I think this was because their command of English was poor. Reception staff were friendly, except for the member of staff when we were checking out whose only words were "nothing to pay"! It doesn't take much to wish your guests a good onward journey, hope you had a nice stay etc.

Breakfasts were buffet style, served in a large non-atmospheric dining room. The hot breakfast selection was good in both range and quality. There was a limited range of cereals, fruit juices and cold meats - which were not replenished regularly. This was probably because so few staff were on duty.

Getting a coffee refill from a passing waiter was a challenge every morning... and we gave up ordering hard boiled eggs after three mornings as they were all served raw. We cannot comment on the evening meals as the breakfast put us off. However, there are lots of places to eat nearby - we would recommend Jaipur Tandoori, TGI Fridays and Bella Italia. All are within walking distance.

The swimming pool was a disgrace. The water cloudy and slightly green. My wife and I took one look and declined to swim in it.

The level of service was a level very reminiscent of the 1970s (hence the title of this article). Adequate, but not up to the average mainland hotel. I surmise that this was mainly due to the language barrier and poor training of staff.

And finally:
We booked this room with Lastminute.com - and so the accommodation was prepaid. Therefore, imagine my annoyance to discover on our return that the hotel had debited a substantial amount from my credit card. They had taken an imprint of my credit card on arrival for incidentals. Without my permission or any discussion they had taken the full accommodation costs from my card! It took two days of phone calls to the hotel to get a refund. No apology was offered by the hotel.

I would not stay at this hotel again.

We had a great stay with you for a few days and really enjoyed the service. The only downside was that our room (32) was right by an outside vent that switched on every morning at 6.45am and ran until well into the night quite loudly. Plus the hotel depends on stairs to get about, there is a short lift but it by no means services all of the hotel, including room 32. Fun visit though. Would recommend for able bodied folk wanting a relaxing break. Not great for those like me with restrictions on mobility with stairs etc.

Room Tip: Room 32 has wonderful bathroom but lots of stairs to get to and once inside!

We could not fault this hotel, every member of staff being always friendly and helpful, our room was spacious and spotlessly cleaned every day during our stay, the food was very appertising and the dining hall staff very obliging and efficient. The pool was lovely, great to swim in and a good size.

There is a bus stop just outside the hotel and although a busy road the noise did not bother us.

Evening entertainment was sparse but it was September so coming to the end of the season.

Only gripe was the dining hall chairs they have reached the end of their life and need updating.

But hotel and staff excellent.

Room Tip: Only saw our room so cannot really judge

Second time we have staed at this hotel and we were not disappointed. Florin and his team gave good service as always. A clean and pleasant hotel in a very good position in St Helier. On a roundabout so you can depart to all destinations. St Helier town is only 10 minutes away with some good shopping and lots of interesting places to visit. Lots of museums and places of interest.
