My husband and I stayed at the Monterey in the last week of July. We were travelling with our 6 month old daughter.

First impressions were very good. We were able to park our car easily right by the main entrance and we checked in very quickly.

Unfortunately, our room overlooked the main road on the second floor. The window was single glazing which meant that it was quite noisy. Not great for the baby. We informed management the next morning and they were only too happy to move us to an internal room which was absolutely perfect.

The room (and the whole of the hotel) was spotlessly clean.

The buffet breakfast was fab! The English breakfast was sooooo good. We also had a bar meal on one occasion which was great. High chairs were provided for our daughter and we felt very relaxed dining with her at the hotel.

The indoor pool was a godsend for us. We had it all to ourselves first thing in the morning which our daughter loved. The temperature was just right. The outdoor pool was a little too cold but that is to be expected!

Only criticism I have is the lack of air-con. However, we did know about this before we booked. We just had not expected such warm weather. There was a fan in the room which we directed at our daughter. We were boiling!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to recommend.

Hotel Staff very nice especially Victor and younger fellow who was doing the bar (Black Hair) . Reception staff and breakfast staff very helpful. The bedrooms are spacious and kept very clean.

Just come back from a week at the Monterey hotel, Jersey. Everything about the hotel was excellent could not have wished for anything better. The hotel itself was absolutely spotlessly clean, the food was freshly cooked and very tasty and served by the most polite and caring staff. We had half board but you could have a meal in the bar and the food there was excellent and very reasonably priced. Although the weather was terrible as it rained for 5 days out of seven you where always welcomed by the staff, the hotel was only 3* but the staff were 5*. The only fault we could find was that it was about a good 10 minute walk into the town and about 15 mins to see the sea but we could not have wished for anything better.

Stayed for 7 nights at the 3 star Monteray, still cant work out why its just 3 stars. The rooms, although slightly dated were spotless. We had rooms opening directly onto the pool/patio area which was a bonus.
The staff were all lovely, very friendly and polit, nothing was too much trouble.. The breakfasts were great, lots of choice, full english, cereal, fruit,yoghurt, meats etc.
Its certainly worth paying for half board as the evening meals were excellent,four choices at each course, every meal was delicious.
The indoor pool facility/changing rooms were also excellent.
Its about a 10 minute walk to town if you are fit, 10 mins further to the bus station where you can get a bus to anywhere. A taxi to the hotel from town was £5
I would strongly recommend this hotel.

Just returned from 5 days in Jersey staying at The Monterey Hotel. If you are looking for a swanky flash, lively hotel this may not be for you BUT if you are looking for VALUE FOR MONEY - a good location, spotlessly clean, excellent service, tasty food, good lesiure facilities at no extra cost (2 pools, & mini gym) etc. then this could well be for you. Our spacious room was unpretentious, slightly dated but again lovely and clean. Suprisingly no duvets but having sweated and then frozen alternately in other hotels when the weather has been warm, this may be why and you'll be ony too grateful to have a crisp clean cotton sheet to sleep under!

Dinner at the hotel was available in both the restaurant and bar at very reasonable cost (- certainly cheaper than eating out anywhere else). In our case we opted for the bar meals which were more than sufficient and very good - (recommend the Jersey fishcakes). On a couple of nights there was light entertainment too. You may be thinking of eating out in town in St Helier in the evening (as was our inital intention), but word of warning the local buses STOP RUNNING after about 6pm so you'll have to leg it back from town, which if you've already been on your feet all day may be the last straw and you'll be only too gratefuL to have chosen a hotel with 2 very reasonably priced dinner options.

DON'T FORGET TOO to claim your freebies before or at reception if you booked online (for 3+ days) = a free bottle of wine and 2 x Jersey (tourist attractions) Passes for 2 days for the price of 1 (a saving of £32). TOP MARKS to the Manager and staff of this hotel who were quietly unassuming but sparklingly efficient!

We had booked a premier room which really was premier with lots of room. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of cereals,juices,fruit,yogurts and hot food. The Hotel was a pleasant 15 minute walk to the town centre.

The Montery is an exceptionally well-run hotel. Particularly the staff are excellent: friendly, helpful, and available. Absolutely nothing was a problem. I cannot remember the last time I experienced such good service, in a hotel or anywhere. The hotel itself was clean, well-appointed, and everything worked as it should. There is a nice swimming pool, gym equipment (if that's your thing) and lounge. The breakfasts are generous and the dinners quite good. The table service was also of a good standard. Finally, it's fairly close to the centre of town, and not too expensive. I just hope they don't go and change anything.
