Took a week break based at this hotel.

Impressive location, which was easy for walks into the town and very close to bus stops and some attractions. The season was obviously slowing down with fewer places open.

We had lunch in the restaurant Tassili which was delicious and not very expensive for the service and quality.

Room was OK but elderly by modern standards and just like in Agatha Christie films. A/C could be noisy at times

The entrance and foyer of the hotel were of simlar elegance but the entrance steps too acute for us.

Disappointed that fruit bowl in room was not refreshed as it was very nice at start.

Visiting the spa and swimming pool nearly took away the need to visit the dungeon and WW2 tunnel tourist attractions due to its deep, dark and confusing location.

Heaven help people if there was a fire and you were in the spa!!!

Confusingng signage which was not legible in the gloom added to a sense of frustration rather than relaxation.

Only redeeming feature was once you got to the pool the temperature was pleasant although it was best outside the crowded times local working people (financiers?) were using it

Reception area staff very good and helpful. Car parking was free and they took the car from the door so very easy

Rooms were serviced daily but believe many were agency rather than permanent staff.

If I visit again I shall consider other hotels as well now I have an appreciation of the island

Room Tip: If you can, get a refurbished room although it will probably cost more. Those with sea view should be good but hot in summer

Just returned from spending a lovely 5 day break in Jersey staying at the Grand. From the moment we arrived until we left the staff were exceptional, the guys parking the cars, reception staff ( special mention to Marianne who was lovely & so helpful), restaurant & bar staff always very attentive, in fact everyone we came into contact with always had a friendly smile and greeting for you. Our room was spacious and well equipped and lovely and clean, we overlooked the park but also had a wonderful view of St Aubins bay. Lovely large bathroom with tropical rain shower head, lovely comfy bed, just perfect. Any bad reviews regarding rooms have just been unfortunate I think because ours was first class. We could not find fault with anything within the hotel anywhere, so clean. We used the pool, steam room and sauna everyday and this was really nice, we liked the low lighting as it set the mood for relaxation. We ate in Tassili on our first night (see separate review), ate out a couple of nights and then in Victorias on our last night (delicious meal). Breakfast buffet was very good, a large selection on offer but you could always get other things if you asked. The island is so beautiful and we will definitely be returning and would stay at the Grand. A big thank you to all the staff.

Room Tip: We had room 139 which was perfect also easy for access to the spa

We stayed at the grand hotel for a weekend in September for my husbands 40th with our two girls. There was a slight problem with the Internet booking but the staff bent over backwards to make up for this and we had an amazing stay. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel is gorgeous and has a really luxurious and relaxing feel to it, rooms are lovely, great location, pool really nice, food so good.

Would definitely go back again soon!

As a regular visitor we were disappointed with a number of elements of the grand this time. The spa decor is looking dated and the experience showers not working properly. The room (a deluxe seaview) had old windows that didn't close properly, a very noisy extractor fan / air con unit and generally looked tired.

Upgrading the windows, heating and ventilation of guest rooms and bathrooms would not only make ones stay more comfortable but would also reduce energy costs in the long term.

The daily cleaning and turn-down was hit and miss with tea not replaced and rubbish not collected. Breakfast was below par too most mornings with tea served in a cafetiere so tasting of coffee or on one morning no coffee materialised at all. Perhaps relaxing the breakfast setup a little would help with this. The staff were friendly but clearly had too much to do. Allowing guests to pour their own orange juice may ease the burden somewhat with this! :)

On the plus side the staff were very helpful and polite as ever. Car parking is a bonus and tassili is superb!

We will likely return next year as the location, parking and deals available are difficult to beat however the stay this time round has made consider Royal Yacht and the Club which usually I will happily gloss over.

Room Tip: Second floor seaview rooms are better than third as not in the roof space.

We recently stayed for a two night weekend break at The Grand and really enjoyed our stay. From the minute we arrived to the minute we departed The Grand met all of our expectations, the staff were really pleasant and helpful and the atmosphere at the hotel was relaxed but refined. We had a sea view room and the view of the castle and the sweeping bay was a real pleasure to wake up to. We found that having Sky Sports and on demand movies in your room was a nice touch too.
We ate on the terrace on the Friday of our stay and the food was delicious. We also made use of the spa facilities on the Saturday and the staff there were really pleasant and professional. The pool, spa and steam rooms were all really nice and the treatments we had really added to the luxury break experience, in particular the "Life Saving Back Treatment". The hotel is well situated for walking into town and there are some great little restaurants literally round the corner from the hotel.
Le Frigate which is based across the road from The Grand does a superb Jersey breakfast that is great value at £6.50 and offers really pleasant views of the castle and beach.

We will definitely visit again and couldn't find a fault with the hotel, staff or location

Room Tip: go with the sea view it really is worth it
