“"Grand but not Wow"”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

our sea view room was very nice and a good size, provided little extras of still and fizzy water in the fridge, housekeeping excellent and very important to me the bed was very comfortable,. Breakfast and food in the Victoria restaurant good but not exceptional. What was exceptional was the Staff, Right from the start we were greeted by friendly well informed staff - concierge/reception/porter etc. Northing was too much trouble and problem with tv, sorted immediately. Waiters and waitress all efficient and friendly, service excellent. Just feel that the food missed a little. No complaints whatsoever, nice hotel all round. The hotel faces onto a main road but the noise wasn't a problem, the seating area outside was a bit dull and lacked any foliage and could be prettier.but October so maybe too late in the season for pots and flowers. Good standard and enjoyed our stay

Room Tip: Sea view, although main road at the front we did not find it noisy

We stayed here for the first time this week.. It's a grand old building right on the seafront in St Helier ..staff are great ..we ate at the in house Michelin Star Tassili restaurant and had cocktails in the champagne bar each evening ..valet parking was so easy, the room was quiet , well specified and clean ..not the largest of double rooms but perfectly adequate and all we required .The staff were great, the location is so easy for getting in and out of town , and it's nice to sit in the breakfast lounge, enjoying the grea buffet and looking out over Elizabeth Castle sat out in the bay .
Would use the hotel again definitely , we felt very comfortable there.

well you first arrive ,and carry your own bags in,its not good, after finding a parking spot only 20 spaces, then in pay and display!
check in was ok,room nice and clean but very dark ,pooor lighting evan with all four lamps on,small but comfortable.
the worst part is the lifts, never seen clean!dirt was there for 4 days.when they are working.but only 3 flooors!
and then theres breakfast, well, were do i start greated and show half way to your table, its that one, asked tea, coffee, orange juice, filled up twice with jug chipped every day!
the buffett very poor warm ish, eggs been in hot plates quite awhile,no beans, everything half cooked then warmed, lovely!
the toast was ok made yourself, but everything was too much of an effort ,i dont know how it has 5 stars,i would only give 4 on a good day, then theres the champane bar, well no nibbles, crisps, nuts, olives, etc none! just expensive drinks.
my opion stay there ,then go to the longville manor, you would never stay at the grand again,in fact they should send all the staff and chefs there for training ,then it may get 5 stars.

Room Tip: pick top floor 3,less noise, better view of sea and castle.

We stayed a for a long weekend in early October and had booked the hotel through a flights+hotel package deal online. Overall we found this deal very good value for money.

The hotel is well located, with a lovely sea view from the front. You can wall easily to the town centre along the sea front. We enjoyed afternoon tea in the Lounge, watching the sea, which was lovely. The tea was very good as well and the Lounge is tastefully decorated.

The service was very good overall. When we first checked in they gave us a double room despite us having booked a twin room. This was quickly changed when we realised their mistake and we were given a large twin with a partial sea view and balcony. My only grumble was that I found the ladies at reception almost overall formal and a bit impersonal. They were always helpful but just a bit robotic. A genuine smile and a bit of conversation never go amiss.

The room was lovely and luxurious and I particularly liked the waterfall style shower. The TV has movies built in that you can watch for free - nice touch. The safe and coffee/tea making facilities were good too.

The hotel has a cinema where you can choose a movie from their list then watch it in your own private cinema. This was a great novelty which we enjoyed. Breakfast was lovely with a large buffet with excellent cold and hot choices, as all as the possibility to make chef requests, eg for poached eggs or kippers.

We also used the spa that the hotel is famed for. It was a lovely experience and the service was very good. The pool and steam room were nice as well as the overall changing facilities. I'd definitely recommend a visit to the spa.

Overall the hotel is an excellent choice for a trip to St Helier and a nice luxurious weekend treat. I would stay here again.

From the moment I arrived up until the moment I left I was made to feel special. The reception and concierge service was second to none. The room was immaculate and the bed very comfortable. The food both in Victoria's and Tissali restaurants was exceptional. Nothing seemed too much for the staff here who were all very friendly and attentive. I would like to Thank all at Grand Jersey for making my stay such a memorable and special one. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the island and would without doubt stay here again and again.

Thank You

We stayed here for a long weekend and it was just amazing. The service was excellent, the spa and treatments were outstanding, the location was great and we had possibly the nicest afternoon tea ever!

As a frequent traveller I would definitely stay here again & would recommend it to anyone who enjoys excellent service (unfortunately a rarity these days) & great spas!

Last weekend my girlfriend and I spent a couple of wonderful nights at The Grand. She is not used to staying in hotels and I am very critical but we both agreed it was one of the best hotels we'd ever stayed in. We'd booked one of their Indulgent Spa packages that included a spa treatment, champagne on arrival ( although as we arrived at 10am they were happy for us to leave it until we returned to our room later in the day!). Our room had a fantastic view of St Aubins Bay. 10 minute walk to the shops and plenty of restaurants even closer. Yes there was some noise from the road but it certainly didn't keep us awake. Beds were really comfortable - we were asked on both evenings if we wanted our beds turned down but nothing happened. I did mention it when checking out but it wasn't a big deal. Room was a bit warm but I've found that most hotel rooms are these days. We ate in the Victorias Brasserie the first evening - food delicious and beautifully presented and staff in all areas of the hotel friendly and accomodating. The Spa - well I actually thought I had died and gone to heaven! Again really friendly staff and nothing too much trouble. We actually upgraded the treatment that was included in our package to a longer one. Don't miss a visit to the Champagne Bar - such a selection of cocktails I could have stayed longer and worked my way through the menu! Will definitely return - might even bring my husband next time!!
