Description: Ormer by celebrity chef Shaun Rankin is a sophisticated and welcoming Michelin starred restaurant and bar in Jersey, Channel Islands. The venue is designed by one of London's leading interior designers Martin Brudnizki and the menus are beautifully crafted by renowned chef Shaun Rankin. The ground floor houses a 50 cover restaurant, bar and 20 cover terrace for dining al fresco. The second floor delivers a stunning private dining room and bar suitable for special occasions and corporate hire. A real secret gem is the overgrown roof garden and cigar terrace.

I had lunch with my wife at Ormer last week. Each course was delightful, which didn't come as any surprise. The fixed lunch menu came in at £24 for three courses, three courses off the a la carte comes in at twice as much. The wine list is quite varied without being extensive, but is not brilliant value.

My one complaint? A huge piece of shell in my lobster ravioli starter. I mean, seriously? In a Michelin starred restaurant? I left the offending piece in full view on the wide untouched rim of my plate, no comment from anyone. Rubbish.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. Please accept my apologies for the Lobster shell, this should never have happened and we would expect our waiting staff to have asked you about it at the time. The information will be fed back in the staff meeting today. We are so pleased you and your wife enjoyed all the other courses and have sent us your complimentary feedback. We look forward to welcoming you again.

Kindest regards,
Natasha

Dined when it first opened. Staff were somewhat still finding their feet but it's understandable. Most enjoyable meal, great food. Pricey but you get what you pay for.

Went last night with family and had newly introduced Tasting Menu, seven courses £75 plus wine flight £45. I won't go through each dish but suffice it to say that the flavour and texture balance in each course was spot on and clearly the result of careful research and brilliant execution. The wine was also excellently chosen to complement each course.
Shaun Rankin is a great chef, and over the years we have enjoyed his food at Suma's, Bohemia and now for the first time at Ormer.

Food and wine aside Ormer is a well presented and kitted out restaurant, if a bit sterile in atmosphere. The staff are very professional but a bit reserved, not a lot of opportunity to interact or ask questions, they seemed a bit reticent to properly engage with customers, but execute their jobs very well, aside from this. Given that one of the aims of Ormer is to reduce the "stuffiness" of eating top quality cooking it would be helped if the staff would "lighten up" a bit. A few flowers wouldn't go amiss either.....
But the food, the main point of going to a restaurant, is fabulous!
Great meal.

We enjoyed an excellent first visit to Ormer. Food was superb and memorable. Some combinations sounded like they would not work, but the reality proved otherwise. Beetroot salad with goats cheese was a revelation, while scallops with chicken melted in the mouth. The turbot and oxtail made perfect plate-fellows, while the beef cheeks was a taste sensation. The desserts did not disappoint - other than not lasting long enough. Service was appropriately attentive and the overall ambience in Ormer made for a great evening. Exceptional and definitely repeatable.

Over priced, tiny portions, same dishes from Bohemia 5/6 years ago good then.times change you can't rest on that.I read a comparison to pollen st.I don't think so leagues apart.Bohemia is better than ever now.Give the treacle tart a rest .Its hardly your signature dish. Move on

Your review is most disappointing for us and we'd like to learn something from it if possible. Our menus are different to that of competitors and they are developed from scratch by Shaun Rankin and his head chef Lee Smith. They work on new dishes for the restaurant every week dependant on the availability of local produce. If you would like to discuss with us your comments directly then please get in touch with me: natasha@getrefined.com

KIndest regards,
