“Very disappointed”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

we had family over from Austraila so thought we would take them to a recommended sea food restaurant. To start with the service was really poor. The waitress kept forgotting anything we asked for. We had to chase for the wine we ordered, my brother in law wanted butter to go on his Jersey new potatoes and had to ask three times only to ge given one tiny frozen pat of butter.
we were offered no bread while we waited. I had a salad but was offered no dressings. My wife orded seabass with gambas but was given prawns. the waitress called the manager whose attitide was far from acceptable. He said that it was a gamba but it had lost its head. My wife has ate prawns and gambas all over the world and she knows the difference, but he was not having any of it. To top it all I had the espedada. Usually the gralic butter placed at the top runs down over the hot meat. The butter did not run because the meat was cold. I only managed two of the pieces and tried to give the rest to my sons, but both commented that the meat was cold. On reflection I should have sent it back but after the reception my wife had over questioning the gambas I really did not want to cause yet another scene. Overall we left very disappointed and certainly have no plans to return.

“Wonderful food and value!”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

We were directed here by another couple about to leave our B&B....how grateful we were! All food and drink was offered at half price for a two week period on re-opening after refurbishment. We ate there on two nights and wished we were staying longer. The food at full price is superb. Freshly prepared scallops wrapped in bacon followed by an array of fish including tuna, salmon, plaice and gambas. Chips, salad or rice are the accompaniments which, although adequate, might be enhanced by the additional choice of Jersey Royal potatoes even at a supplement. My friend had a well cooked fillet steak. We also had gin and tonics as our accompanying drinks. The waitress was friendly and obliging.
On night two we were a little more adventurous and sampled the meat kebab (Espatados?) which was suspended chunks of fillet steak dripping garlic butter into a container below. Wonderful presentation and fabulous tasting food.

The restaurant has a great atmosphere as it is decorated with artefacts from a ship or boat and it is comfortable and warm. Being at the entrance to the Fish Market it is a bit off the beaten track so you would need to know it is there to visit. The promotion finishes on Friday 14th June...still time to try it at half price!

“Superb!”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

Just got back from Jersey after going out to celebrate a milestone birthday within our party of 14. We booked this restaurant, right from booking to arranging the birthday cake and decorations, Jorge (the owner) was simply fantastic. Everything was perfect on the night of the birthday and the birthday girl had a superb night. To our surprise there was 50% off everything including the drinks due to the reopening after a refurbishment. We all enjoyed our meals ranging from mainly fish dishes to steaks, not one person had a bad thing to say about any of the courses and being in a large group there is usually someone who has something bad to say, but, not on this occasion. The food was fantastic, so much so, I would go on record to say it was the best meal we had in Jersey.
Would definitely return!

“Still good value when half price offer ends”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

We chanced on this restaurant in a corner of the fish market on the day it reopened after a revamp. For two weeks at the beginning of June everything is half price. This was amazing value and we took full advantage with three visits in our four day stay. The menu is mainly fish and has a Madeirian /Portugese flavour . The quality was very good and prices not unreasonable at full price.
