Firstly, the good things: (1). It's clean. Our rooms were cleaned daily and the common areas such as the bar were spotless. (2). It's modern. There are some nice furnishings and fittings -- we stayed in a superior room so we got some extras like an iPod dock and DVD player. There is also free WiFi throughout. (3). There is a lot of choice for breakfast and the quality is high.

The not-so-good:
(1). Our room was too hot. I asked at the reception if anything could be done about this (not hopeful as there was no air-conditioning in the room) and was offered a fan, which I declined as I couldn't see how blowing hot air around the room would help. Opening the window was not an option as:
(2). There was too much noise. Our room did not face the road but there was still too much noise from the traffic.
(3). The room, especially considering we were in a "superior" was way too small. There was enough room to walk around the bed but once two people are in there and you have your luggage, it's frustrating.
(4). There is parking but not enough so that each car has its own space. You have to block people in and then leave your car keys at the reception so that the staff can move your car to let people out. Fine if you've got a hire car but you might not be so keen if you're handing over the keys to your pride and joy!
(5). Location. It's a 10-15 minute walk into town, which is fine, especially if this your base for a business trip but holiday makers might feel the location is not very holiday-like (we preferred our previous location, which was near the sea and the harbour.

So, would I stay here again? No. On the surface it looks great but we found we didn't particularly enjoy our stay. I notice on TripAdvisor, the hotel is positioned as a "boutique" style hotel but in my opinion, this is more like an up-market Premier Inn, which makes it not particularly great value and more suited to a business traveller than someone looking for a base to explore Jersey. I'm slightly puzzled by the positive reviews on here -- perhaps we were unlucky with our room but overall I would not rate this hotel anything higher than "okay".

We are of course most sorry these guests did not enjoy their stay with us.

As Tripadvior reviews are anonymous it is difficult to give a precise answer to the comments posted as we do not know which room these guests stayed in, so I have to give a fairly general response.

First of all regarding these guests bedroom: THE INN is located in an old building and as such and unlike Premier Inns our room sizes do vary. There are regulations in Jersey about room sizes and we comply with these regulations and most of the time exceed the minimum requirements.

It would be fair to say that there are quieter locations and most town hotels do suffer from an element of traffic noise which is more prevalent during the summer months and we are no exception. The road outside does have both busy and quiet times but the majority of our guests do not seem to have an issue with it as they like our close distance to the town and central position giving easy access to other parts of the island.

Regarding the other comments I need to point out that we are a Three Star Hotel. Our aim is to offer the best 3 Star product in Jersey at 3 star prices. We have been awarded a gold accreditation by Visit Britain (the only one in Jersey). We are boutique because we are individual, different and with an eye for detail.

THE INN is run by a team of caring and dedicated professionals whose main aim is to offer our guests a friendly and efficient service, comfortable and well equipped rooms and great food in a modern fun environment. I believe reading the majority of reviews, questionnaires and by the amount of returning guests we are achieving our goal, it is just a shame that we didn’t come up to these guests’ expectations.

We stayed at the Inn for 3 nights in September.
We had read some reviews from other travellers about noise issues, and unfortunately this was also the case for us during our stay.
Our room was not the closest to the road, but we could still hear the traffic, even with the windows closed. We were also able to hear other guests snoring! (the traffic noise must not have bothered them) and as the building is old, the floors creaked so we could hear the neighbouring guests moving around in their rooms.

The room was also quite warm, and like a previous reviewer had said, we couldn't leave the windows open because of the road noise.

We stayed on a Room only basis, so we did not try the food, but the menu did look quite nice.
All the staff that we dealt with were helpful.
On one of the days, our room was not serviced, however when we contacted reception for fresh towels, they were brought to the room within a few minutes.
Parking at the Inn is limited, but free, which was a bonus.

All in all, we didn't have a bad experience at the Inn, but we wouldn't go back to it either.

...My Wife and I recently stayed at the Inn for my 30th Birthday. We had lot of ideas on places to go and settled on Jersey and the Inn.

We had the best time in Jersey, such a fantastic place and our stay at the Inn made it a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We stayed in the Decartet suite, a loft room with split level floors, amazingly comfortable bed, sofas, big tv and a very powerful shower, all decorated in a modern and comfortable style.

The food was delicious, we stayed for 2 nights so had dinner at the hotel one of the nights and lunch before we left. The T-Bone steak was cooked perfectly with a beautiful bearnaise butter. For me though, and my wife, the French Onion Soup was amazing!!! I am trying to get the recipe out of the hotel, there must be a secret ingredient as most onion soup I have had is watery and tasteless!!

All of the staff gave great service which makes all of a difference in my opinion.

I am not normally one to write reviews, but I had a great birthday weekend and the Inn and all who work there deserve a mention.

(If I dont get that French Onion Soup recipe out of the chef though, I may need to revoke this review!!!)

Recommended without doubt.

The Inn is a 10-12 minute walk up from Liberation Station and the Tourist Office, or a short ride on the number 5 bus. The ferry terminal is another 7-8 minutes walk away. Its location on a busy road is probably the main drawback as it's difficult to escape the traffic noise on the terrace, in the dining room or in the bedroom. If windows are closed, the rooms are too warm.
Everything else about the Inn is excellent.
The hotel has been extremely tastefully refurbished (modern, eclectic and stylish), the staff are extremely pleasant, the breakfast is plentiful and extremely tasty, (the terrace would be even more inviting with more potted plants and general greenery in place) and the bedroom was very comfortable.
The reason the hotel has so many excellent reviews is because that's what it is - excellent.
Perhaps the Inn is doing itself a disservice by being listed under B&Bs / Inns rather than under Hotels in TripAdvisor?
The Inn is highly recommended.

Disappointed with first room we were shown (114) as rather small for a double. However the reception staff went to considerable trouble to relocate us on what must be one of their busiest weekends (Battle of the Flowers and mid August). Moved to room 101 which was much better. Everything newly decorated, very clean and well presented. Comfortable bed and White Company products in bathroom. Restaurant great and bar with good atmosphere. Smoking terrace for those that must. Easy walk to town centre and parking just opposite hotel. Worked out very well as a base to explore Jersey. Room adjacent to main road and kitchen but excellent double glazing and quiet at night. Friendly and courteous staff. Arrived with the hump but left very happy. Many thanks!

Reading these reviews can be a traumatic experience....so here is the truth. This hotel is absolutely amazing!! As soon as you approach the hotel it stands out from any other building around and looks class. The staff could not do enough for us, anything we asked they were happy to help with. We stayed in the Bergerac room and it was massive! massive bed, massive room, massive bath and always spotlessly cleaned every morning.
The restaurant is top notch, breakfast was brilliant with a good old fry up or continental options. We ate in the restaurant in the evenings too, the food was unbelievable and well priced. Fillet steak on a skewer drizzled in Garlic butter needs to be sampled by all!!
The location was perfect, it is a 5-10 minute walk to the centre of St helier where you can get a bus to anywhere on the island. The bus also stops just down the road from the Inn if you don't fancy the short walk back.
The Airport is a 15 minute drive away, taxis wait outside arrivals and cost about £12-£14 to take you to the Inn. The bus also stops at the airport and runs to/from St Helier centre.
The only thing this hotel doesn't have is a seaview as it is 5 minutes inland, but if you;re not after a seaview then you would be mad not to try this hotel.
Definately the best hotel on the island, going back as soon as possible!

MY wife and I stayed 5 nights in a superior room and although not the largest room i,ve stayed in it had excellent amenities.very clean and comfortable. The decor was very tasteful.
One of the most endearing things about the INN is the friendliness of the staff from Manager to cleaners especially Mohammed, Martin,Georgianna,Sian,Tom,Miguel,Joanne,ad Lynne and everyone else, and a thank you to the owner Steve for his welcome. The food in both the restaurant and bar was great, a very good selection for both breakfast and dinner. a place we will certainly revisit being only a 10 walk to the centre.A great introduction to our first Jersey visit.
