This is an old house which has been refurbished by the National Trust for Jersey. It is close to the centre of St Helier and well worth a visit. Not only has the house been restored but it also has furniture of the period. UK National Trust tickets are valid.

Very interesting but as people were dressed in period garb and the house was' live' smoke from the wood stove in the kitchen, permeated the whole house.

A beautiful restoration of a building and small garden which could have been lost forever.
The staff and small shop are lovely - when we were there some little children were having a story told and were entranced.
Quirky, fun and the entrance fee goes to a good cause.

As UK National Trust members we were able to visit this property free of charge, which was a big advantage to us. It is conveniently placed in the centre of St Helier and has a little garden in which you can sit on a sunny day. A costumed volunteer in the kitchen very kindly gave us an interesting talk about cooking, and gave us a taste of some authentic dishes, which was quite a treat. Most of the rooms were set up for the late Georgian period, with one from Victorian times, and there were various items of furniture and accessories in each one to bring the place to life. Although some basic information was provided, I personally would like to have had a more detailed list of items in each room, and what they were used for, but otherwise I really enjoyed my visit.

Its a Jersey National trust property but all National trust members are free. Even if your not a member please go. Its beautifully presented, theres cook in the kitchen and her tales and explanations of the way things were cooked was brilliant. Every room was interesting a small video upstairs explains how the building was saved. A couple of niggles, I would have loved to have taken some pictures and would have paid for some period recipes.
