“Wonderful Stay & Experience at the Pomme D`or!”
Reviewed October 7, 2009

We stayed for 3 nights during the first weekend of October 2009. Our premier double room was available for us at 8.50am, so we were really pleased - a great start to the break! Check in was fast and the reception staff extremely helpful in advising us about local information. Our room was spacious, clean and modern and a lovely view across to the harbour and liberation square. We felt the room could have had a mini bar, just a little gripe though.

We stayed at the Hotel Saturday night for an evening meal and were very pleased with the quality and choice available. The Breakfasts had plenty of choice - hot/cold (excellent full English or Continental) and you really couldnt fault it. The Pomme D`or had a touch of class and elegance about it without being too stuffy.

We hired a car to tour the island from a local hire firm called Sovereign who were very good and gave us helpful advice on places to visit. It was a shame there was no car park at the hotel. We had to park 1/4 mile at a long stay open car park, but had no trouble parking there. Jersey uses a paycard voucher system, cards can be bought at reception.

Trips - The Durrell Conservation Wildlife Park was well worth a visit, as was St Brelade, the Corbierre lighthouse and the Jersey War Tunnels - quite an interesting Island!

As it was our 1st Anniversary we ate out at Little Italy and the menu was quite extensive. The meal my wife & I had was fantastic - best fillet steak we had ever tasted and friendly service too.

We also dined at the Candlelight Restaurant nearby (Kensington Place) and had another lovely meal in more intimate surroundings - another place we would definately recommend.

Overall, we thouroughly enjoyed our stay - a 30 minute flight from Cardiff AIrport at 7.25am, clearing customs, collecting luggage at the airport, catching the local bus to the Pomme D`or Hotel and actually inside our Hotel room by 8.50am! We cannot wait to come back to Jersey and another stay at the Pomme D`or Hotel.

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of September.

The hotel is in a very central location near to the bus station. Shops are just around the corner and the beach is only a 2 minute stroll

Rooms were modern and spacious as you would expect from a four star hotel.

You could hear some noise late into the ngiht due to the location, however the hotel has 'quadrupal' glazing so I'm unsure of what else they can do to stop it! Showers were powerful in the bathroom...although there was no hot water on one day.

Breakfast had a very good selection from full english, croissants and fruit to smoked salmon and a cheese platters, everyone was catered for as well as being able to order freshly prepared kippers or omlettes.

We have just come back from a 3-night stay at the Pomme D'Or in St Helier and were very impressed. We had a large room which was very luxurious with co-ordinated furnishings and spotlessly clean. The location is very central although a little noisy at times. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of variety. We only have 2 small criticisms - one being that the room did not have a very nice view and the other that the evening meal in the Harbour Restaurant was very expensive and not worth the money. The wine we felt was particularly over-priced. We only chose to eat there on the Sunday night because most other places were shut but otherwise we ate at Mino's, a very nice Italian restaurant about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. We would however highly recommend this hotel; infact we intend staying there again during our next trip to Jersey which hopefully will be very soon.

Read previous reviews and agree with the majority. If you could find fault with the hotel you must be used to 5*** plus. Just returned from a three night break at the Pomme D'Or. Managed to secure an executive double room, three nights for price of two. We have travelled to Jersey about half a dozen times in the last 4 yrs, staying previously at the sister hotel, The Merton. We have been more than happy there but thought we would have a change this time. I can only say that it is worthy of its 4* status. Just the little extras made all the difference. The room was fully refurbished and spotlessly clean. We were on the side of the hotel along the busy side street but never heard any noise as the room was double glazed (could be classed as triple) and not a sound could be heard. We were on B & B basis and the breakfast was fabulous, as much or little as you would like, and plenty of choice. We ate one night in the Cafe Bar and again the food and service was good. It was central for everything, being across the road from the bus station and on the edge of the shops. Service excellent. Look forward to returning.

Have just arrived back from a weekend at this hotel to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. Check-in was fast and faultless and when we got to our room there was champagne & fruit waiting for us. we went for a young and lively weekend and thats what we got. On the doorstep are numerous bars & clubs and it was a lot livelier than we expected. Breakfast was fab, the best hotel cooked english breakfast we've ever experienced. Took the bus to and from the airport for £1.50 each and the bus terminal is jusy metres from the hotel, you really do not need to cab it. Just out of the hotel and to the right was a lovely white sand beach and although it wasn't warm enough to take a dip we sat at the cafe with a coffee and said how lovely it would be in warmer weather. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pomme and would definately return.

Sept 09. Stayed for 6 nights in a standard room on 4th floor. Reception & public rooms and resturant decorated to a high standard, however our room whilst very comfortable and clean was in need of decoration, as were the landings. Excellent restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Staff are very helpful. This is the second time I have stayed here, first 2007 and would consider using it again for the future. The hotel was in a central location for the delights of St Helier. I was given a warm welcome and the staff were most helpful. My room was comfortable and quiet with the excellent glazing. Breakfast selection was varied and well stocked.
