“Never Again!”

Got a takeaway on Friday. "Cod" in batter which was puffed up covering dry grey fish, Chips although hand cut were small and soggy, Mushy peas - tasteless, Service - Miserable young man who needed a course on how to smile. Will stick to Entwhistles in future.

“An extremely enjoyable and unforgettable experience all round.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

After extensive experience in travelling in well over 50 countries, we found 'Hector's Restaurant' to be a delightful highlight to our visit to Jersey. Not only is the food excellent and very reasonably priced, but the ambience and atmosphere are invitingly warm and positive.
On reading some of the previous reviews, we can only assume that those who have made any negative comments regarding the effervescent nature of the proprietor must originate from locations that may not be acquainted with the warmth and openness of the essential British humour! The joviality and good natured quips and comments from the owner, Paul, to all and every welcomed guest, add immensely to the pleasant mood & feel of this extraordinary little place. An additional point that's certainly worth mentioning, is the admirable and conscious awareness of the owner in giving great care and attention to the sources of their products, such as their potatoes, the oil used in making their amazing chips and, even more importantly, their supplies of fresh fish which come strictly from areas that are regulated to ensure that stocks are not depleted through over extensive fishing. We highly recommend a visit to 'Hector's Restaurant', not only for the superb quality of their food, but also for the positively cheerful and absolutely delightful experience in itself. We gladly look forward to our next visit to St.Helier, and we don't need to think too hard as to where our first stop will be.

“Not good”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Looking forward to some decent fish and chips and sad to say this was the worst fish and chips I have had in living memory. The chips were fine but the fish was awful. The "special" batter was basically a hard shell that had to be peeled off and discarded. The fish underneath was not much better it was off white and dry.Not even copious quantities of vinegar could resuscitate it.I heard the proprietor was away so this might have accounted for a bad experience.

“Special evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

Having had a busy day at Durrels wildlife park wandered into St Helier and found Hectors. Was my parents wedfing anniversary and quality of food was excellent along with great bottle of wine. What made the evening was Paul's banter and good customer service. Thanks for a great evening
