Description: In the heart of town you'll find our bustling restaurant and terrace bar: delicious food to warm your heart and delight your palate, from Irish and British meats to local seafood cooked to order. In the historic Weighbridge area, next to the Jersey Museum, you’ll find one of the most popular restaurants in St Helier. Locals affectionately refer to the spot as the 'Museum Brasserie'; a cosy retreat with vibrant food in a lively atmosphere. Here business people discuss the markets over lunch and in the summer the Terrace Bar lights up and turns into a hot spot where people chill out with good tunes with friends. Dinner is either a set menu or a la carte. Fusions of fish and Eastern spices make the food exciting and delicious. This is the place to go for good hearty food with some unexpected twists. The desserts are to die for!

Found this gorgeous restaurant at the last minute and delighted we went. Food is superb excellent value for money. Service was faultless and extremely friendly. We went in Winter but they have a really pretty outdoor courtyard which I would say would be lovely in the summer.

Four of use recently travelled to Jersey for a long week-end and to sample some of their famous 'Tennerfest' meals. I had seen this restaurant on the Tennerfest website, liked the sound of the menu, had a look at the published reviews and decided to book it. It was a short taxi ride from our hotel and right next to the Royal Yacht Club. An impressive entrance and professional welcome. It has the feel of a city centre restaurant with on open kitchen and contemporary decor. The service, food and wine were all great. We had a fabulous time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend anybody to try it. Special thanks to our waiter from Cumbria (via Queensferry and Kelsall) Top marks for friendliness and service.

The restaurant was full of parties of girls and women - we went for a romantic meal - obviously not the restaurants fault though but beware of you want a quiet meal. I was very disappointed with the food; I ordered "stuffed portabello mushroom with beef tomato, feta, basil and pine nuts". What turned up was a very flat mushroom with a slice of beef tomato plonked on top, sprinkled with feta and the basil (I expected as a herb) was drizzled in pesto - yuk! I overheard others complaining too as it wasn't cheap. My partner ordered the soup and thought it was lovely. We both had the main course of the beef suet pudding with garlic mash which was lovely but not much mash - it was a 'quinelle'. The sweet was cinnaman apple crumble - again very disappointing; layers of round filopastry with 5 small slices of apple sprinkled with some floury spiced thing - it was NOT a crumble. All in all I wouldn't go back

So glad that we spotted the Merchant House on a dark evening, tucked away in the Jersey Museum entrance - having looked at the Royal Yacht next door and other hotel restaurants, we were impressed right away with the look, and then the welcome. The service was so attentive, but not invasive, the atmosphere was great - and then the food! - so well presented, with adequate portions, really well cooked -and such flavours! Desserts to die for. Excellent value for the superb quality of all the elements. A shame we were not in Jersey longer or we would surely have returned. Maybe they don't need the casual business but they should try to gain more prominence with signage/lighting. Highly recommended - and we rarely write reviews!

We went here for a lunch as it is close to our hotel and we could sit outside in the shady courtyard. We just had sandwiches which were beautifully presented and yummy with friendly service. We returned the following evening and thoroughly enjoyed the food, again with friendly and efficient service. Will go again when next in Jersey.
