Description: In the heart of town you'll find our bustling restaurant and terrace bar: delicious food to warm your heart and delight your palate, from Irish and British meats to local seafood cooked to order. In the historic Weighbridge area, next to the Jersey Museum, you’ll find one of the most popular restaurants in St Helier. Locals affectionately refer to the spot as the 'Museum Brasserie'; a cosy retreat with vibrant food in a lively atmosphere. Here business people discuss the markets over lunch and in the summer the Terrace Bar lights up and turns into a hot spot where people chill out with good tunes with friends. Dinner is either a set menu or a la carte. Fusions of fish and Eastern spices make the food exciting and delicious. This is the place to go for good hearty food with some unexpected twists. The desserts are to die for!

The Merchant House Brasserie was the best food I had on a recent trip to Jersey. This is no mean feat as the food on the island generally is very good. I had dinner there on two consecutive evenings. The staff are friendly and helpful and it also has a pleasant location.

A group of us visited for lunch after a visit to the adjoining Museum. The food was lovely and I would recommend the baguettes as being the best value at lunchtime as they are very full and tasty and came with green salad and crisps. I had the potato cakes with poached egg and asparagus and whilst they were very well cooked and tasty I did feel that the portion size was a bit small.

One thing that I did not like was that one of the waiters looked a bit scruffy (he was wearing a fleece which was clearly supplied as part of the uniform as it had Merchant House on the back, but it looked untidy, maybe waistcoats would look smarter). But worse than that was that twice I saw him wipe his nose on the back of his hand and then pick up a plate from the pass - he didn't serve me or I would have commented - that was a little off putting.

The setting is nice, the atmosphere good and there is outdoor seating for sunny days.

Well prepared food (although portions seem to be a bit small at lunchtime) with a nice open air setting available. In the centre of town but still quiet.

Dined there Saturday evening after a rugby game. The service was absolutely excellent, very laid back and enjoyable. The food was cooked fresh and to a very very high standard. The venison was to die for, being a country boy understanding the quality of meat which was excellent. The sweets were exceptionally good, the soufle was brilliant. Thanking all the staff for a most enjoyable evening. Would recommend to anyone who likes good food and good service. Thank you again.
