Description: In the heart of town you'll find our bustling restaurant and terrace bar: delicious food to warm your heart and delight your palate, from Irish and British meats to local seafood cooked to order. In the historic Weighbridge area, next to the Jersey Museum, you’ll find one of the most popular restaurants in St Helier. Locals affectionately refer to the spot as the 'Museum Brasserie'; a cosy retreat with vibrant food in a lively atmosphere. Here business people discuss the markets over lunch and in the summer the Terrace Bar lights up and turns into a hot spot where people chill out with good tunes with friends. Dinner is either a set menu or a la carte. Fusions of fish and Eastern spices make the food exciting and delicious. This is the place to go for good hearty food with some unexpected twists. The desserts are to die for!

While on holiday,we happened upon the Merchant House by chance, and liked the look of the menu outside. We weren't expecting any more than a satisfactory meal, but the quality of the food preparation was truly amazing. We've eaten in a fair few starred restaurants, but the unexpected quality of this restaurant's food totally surprised us. It ranks among a handful of memorable meals we've experienced. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who prefers good food over pretentious surroundings!

Our first visit here was because we had a voucher included in our holiday package. It was so good we booked for the next night. As we were there in October, the Tennerfest was in operation. The meals were excellent value, the choice very good and the food superb. The staff were efficient and friendly and on our return recognised us immediatley, which, as they were very busy was nice.

We booked this restaurant last minute and used the on line booking service as we were looking for the location on the internet- instant response to mobile...brill. The restaurant was quiet however this seemed largely due to the fact that the whole of St Hellier was quiet! Our waiter was great, personable, chatty and very helpful. We chose from the special Tennerfest menu which was £17.50 for 3 courses. The portabello mushroom I chose for starters caused my partner to have food envy!....it was delicious! We both had pheasant as the main which was not overly gamey but well complimented and then chose different desserts which rounded off the meal well. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed and I imagine it is lovely in the coutyard during the spring/summer months.
All the staff including the chef and kitchen staff were very personable. We wish them every success

Most of these good reviews must be from tourists who don't know the best Jersey restaurants. We went tonight with a group of six friends. The food was average and over the top price wise.
It is good that they serve a large selection of wine by the glass but we left smelling of cooking as the kitchen is not well ventelated which was not pleasant.
Don't think you can get the 'set menu' in the evening, you can't as it only applies at lunchtime. This is a very misleading feature of the website.
All in all, very average food for Jersey, ridiculously overpriced at £45 a head (some of our group had 2 starters instead of a main course), and vegetables and chips in most cases are charged as extra.
An interesting evening and if it is warm and you are sat outside it is probably very pleasant.
Would we repeat it as Jersey residents who love our food, sadly NO!
