“3 Courses in 30 minutes - They must have wanted the table badly”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

We visited Doran's Bistro in the first week of December 2013 and had made a reservation before arriving in Jersey. They called us back to make us aware that they had a large Christmas Party on that evening and asked if we wanted to maintain or change the booking. We said it was fine as we are not averse to people having a good time, but it nice to be asked.

The party was there when we arrived and they were having a great time. We were seated quickly and selected out choices from the Table D'hote menu. The food was adequate and I suppose it was reasonable value. However we had been served all three course and and eaten up in 30 minutes. A relaxing evening out it was not. I explained to the waitress that we were not looking to be rushed and her response was that they were very busy. I said if they were busy and food was delayed I would understand it, but they brought the next dish just as soon as you had finished the last and the food must have been cooked already and be waiting to be served whilst we were still eating.

The waitress told the manager about our comments and he offered us free drinks. We declined as we were not after freebies, just a relaxing evening out. Well at least the Christmas party was enjoyed by one and all.

We will probably give Doran's a miss next time.

I regret to hear that you have reason to make a negative comment about your booking experience for the Bistro.
Our diary was closed out for business on this day which is normal for Bank Holday Monday's. We have no record of your reservation or phone number and I can confirm that the matter has been fully investigated as to who may have been involved with your reservation.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and that you found the Bistro closed on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday.

“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

Had a wonderful meal @ dorans courtyard, a couple of nights ago. The food was delicious and service spot on. Menu was reasonably priced. They had a very good early bird menu(for early diners), a set menu and al a carte. All good value for money there was also a lovely olde world atmosphere I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting jersey. I'm sure it's a meal they won't forget.

“Fantastic no other words could describe this place.”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

The food was exceptional, the service was impeccable, very amusing staff, some of the Irish humour may not have been appreciated by some of the other dinners but we thought it was great.
A very social environment and pleasant and well decorated place to eat, bare stone, timber beams etc.

The prices were very reasonable.

Would definitely go again next time I’m in St Helier
