We visited Doran's Bistro in the first week of December 2013 and had made a reservation before arriving in Jersey. They called us back to make us aware that they had a large Christmas Party on that evening and asked if we wanted to maintain or change the booking. We said it was fine as we are not averse to people having a good time, but it nice to be asked.
The party was there when we arrived and they were having a great time. We were seated quickly and selected out choices from the Table D'hote menu. The food was adequate and I suppose it was reasonable value. However we had been served all three course and and eaten up in 30 minutes. A relaxing evening out it was not. I explained to the waitress that we were not looking to be rushed and her response was that they were very busy. I said if they were busy and food was delayed I would understand it, but they brought the next dish just as soon as you had finished the last and the food must have been cooked already and be waiting to be served whilst we were still eating.
The waitress told the manager about our comments and he offered us free drinks. We declined as we were not after freebies, just a relaxing evening out. Well at least the Christmas party was enjoyed by one and all.
We will probably give Doran's a miss next time.
