“Simply...lovely”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2012

We stayed here for a few days in June, and loved it. The rooms are a little dated, but to be honest they are comfy, spotless and large. You can hear a little noise from other rooms, but to be honest, it did not affect our stay.

We stayed on a half board basis and the value was exceptional, with the food being a real differentiator. We loved every single meal we had, including cream teas in the afternoon.

It's in a great location, and all the staff go out of your way to make you feel at home. We felt as though the staff were only there for us.

Would definitely go back!

We have just had a 6 day break at The Miramar. We had a lovely room with a balcony and it's own little garden. The heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi were lovely
We thought the food was excellent. A previous reviewer had said it was not enough but they seemed to be happy to bring you anything you wanted, I had muesli with prunes, I was amazed at the super quality of the muesli.
In the evening you could have 4 courses plus coffee though that was usually rather too much food for me! The choice was good if reasonably simple but we were spoiled for choice.
The best thing about the place was the staff. There was such a helpful and friendly feel about the place, all the staff seemed to be happy and working as a team. The reception staff, one of whom I presume was the owner, could not have been more helpful. We made a mistake about our leaving day and they dealt with it so nicely.
The only drawer back for me was that it was a stiff climb down and back from the beach. There again it was a good place to start cycle rides from as it was close to the disused railway line that gets you to Corbieres or St Aubin very gently.
I would certainly visit again.

This is an average Hotel and is looking dated. The Rooms are clean and bed was comfortable. The breakfast is good and offers range including healthy fruits and also a full english, evening meals can be included and are reasonable for a 2 star hotel and silver service waiters. The Hotel has an outside swimming pool which is great for kids and for adults wishing to cool off, there are sun beds and a sun lounge. The Hotel bar is fitted with a large screen TV, but the seating is in a circle so not too many can view at a time.If you need Internet access the Hotel offer a limited wireless access (a very short rage from the reception so you will need to surf in the reception area or on the stairs, when you can connect it is good, but for 2 years running I have had problems connecting, so you have been warned! There is a better wireless service which was being picked up in my room but it is available to staff only. Why staff are offered a better service than customers is a mystery to me.

Room Tip: If stairs are a problem ask for ground floor, but the floorboards above do make a noise.

We stayed here for a week in May/June, last stayed in this hotel 10 years ago and apart from a change of duvet covers/curtains the rooms were pretty much the same. Our room was on the side overlooking the 'green lane' which was a pleasant view. It had the tiniest bathroom I have ever been in, hardly 3ft wide with a tiny hand sink with a glass shelf over on which you banged you head if you tried to wash your face. However we thought it would be OK for a week, that is until I went in the shower as the door was broken and almost fell off as I tried to shut it, so a very quick shower whilst trying to hold the door in place!!! So we went down to dinner and told the receptionist about the shower door and were quite surprised when she knew it was broken, she said we had to bang it into place and then it would be OK. We said this was hardly satisfactory but my husband said he would check it out and if he couldn't sort it we would have to move rooms. Needless to say, the following morning he comes out of the shower after banging about in there for 10 minutes, not very happy and saying we are either changing rooms or changing hotels. So off we go to reception again, but this time it was the owner and she immediately said she would change us to another room, which we did, but we wondered why if they had spare rooms and they knew this shower door was broken why put us in there in the first place - wasting our time changing rooms, and the room having to be cleaned again after only one nights use - didn't seem to make much sense to us. However our new room had a much bigger bathroom, with a shower over the bath, big improvement.
As for other reviews about the food, well we found it to be excellent, plenty of choice and nicely cooked. We found the breakfast ample, you could start with cereal, yoghurt, juice of grapefruit or all the lot if you wanted it and followed by a full breakfast if you had room. The evening meal had starter, followed by soup, then main course, dessert and tea or coffee and there was always plenty of choice, something for everyone.
Overall it is a very nice hotel, spotless clean, lovely staff, especially the waitresses in the dining room, it has a lovely conservatory to sit in, and a nice pool and gardens. The bedrooms are very dated though, and could do with kingsize beds instead of doubles. It is in a lovely position overlooking St. Brelades Bay and is quiet during the night. We thought it was good value for money as we had free evening meals (depends on the time of year you visit), and we would probably use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Not 109, tiny bathroom - 221 is better

The Miramar is situated near St Brelade's Bay. We paid extra for a seaview room and had beautiful views over the Bay.
The room was beautifully clean and our Polish cleaner, Magda was exceptionally kind and conscientious. Tea and coffee in the room were adequate and a hairdryer was supplied.
The shower was ok.
The staff in Reception and the Restaurant were efficient and polite.
The hotel has a lovely garden and outdoor pool.
However, I cannot understand why the breakfast menu gave a choice of a fruit juice then a choice of EITHER a yogurt OR half a grapefruit OR prunes then a cooked breakfast.
Why not just put fruit and cereals and juices on a table and allow us to help ourselves? It all seemed a bit stingy! My husband had the full cooked breakfast which was rather small. The toast was thin and even with my modest appetite,I didn't feel full after breakfast.
The toileteries in the room were in sachets and were not appealing.
The stairs were quite narrow and I nearly went flying at one stage!
There is a lot that this hotel could do very reasonably to up the feeling of 'wow' without spending a great deal of money.
We were so glad that we were only booked in as 'bed and breakfast' based on our experience of breakfast.
The hotel is in a superb location with the beautiful St Brelade's Bay only a ten minute walk away with loads of lovely restaurants and there are many walks locally.
The hotel is well placed to explore the island and it also has a bus stop close by.
We would actually stay here again due to the hotel's location and lovely views from our room but it is a shame that something as important as your breakfast which really does 'start you off ' for the day is so miserly and could be rectified so easily and really does let this lovely hotel down.
This hotel, however is a great base from which to explore the island!

Room Tip: Our room was next to the boiler and was a bit noisy in the morning. Choose a seaview room to maximis...

The hotel is a few steps from the regular bus route which is the only plus. There is a steep 10 minute climb up from beach but service is poor and food terrible, bed was hard and room basic, bathroom dated, ground floor front room very dark and dingy. Cheap hotel in every way

I have no idea why people have been moaning and gripeing about this hotel. We spent a week here 17th - 24th September. No complaints at all. Staff go out of their way for you, I enquired about a shop I wanted to go to they went as far as to telephone the place for me to see if it was still open. Nothing was any trouble. Waiter/waitress service excellent they run to you to feed you and remove any used plates etc. The rooms very spacious and comfortable, food exceptionable such a lovely menu with plenty of choice. The hotel very clean and easy to get round. Just can't say enought about it. Really recommend you come here, I will most certainly be back next year.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are stunning
