“Only commenting on the food as did not stay here”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Great location, ate dinner here and attended an evening reception and dinner for 42 people. Excellent service and good food. During the day we had a chance to wander around the grounds comprising a swimming pool, tennis court and spa. All very nice. Did not stay so cannot comment on the accommodation but wandering around inside too it is really quite lovely.

Room Tip: Sorry, only ate here but friends were in a room with a balcony overlooking the sea and liked it

We had our Daughters Wedding reception at this hotel on July 27th.
Everything was just perfect, great food and lots of it. Beautiful rooms, helpful staff
I really can't praise it enough and would recommend it to anyone, either for a holiday or a function.

We have been going to this hotel for the past 29 years and I'm only 37! I'm now taking my own family. The "Bay" is one of the best in the world in my opinion and well worth a visit with its gorgeous views from the hotel. The gardens are beautiful and the staff great! It's worth paying that little bit more for this fantastic hotel and the island of Jersey is lovely too. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone :0)

Room Tip: They do a few bunk bed rooms for family's with garden views which are lovely so just ask.

We stayed in three hotels on our first trip to Jersey and have chosen to return here. We had a not great room when we booked in but staff offered an alternative with lovely view over sea and beach and we were happy. Good spot for beach and cliff walking and great local eating spots if you care not eating in hotel. Only gripe was the horrid allocation of table at breakfast on the first morning - you will be staying at that table for the rest of your stay!! We like to move about and talk to different people. Awfully stuffy hierarchy with at least three levels of waiting staff. OK for formal dinner but a bit much early in the day.

We had a lovely pianist playing during Dinner on one evening - but Dinner was not really up to the very good breakfast. Perhaps again a little too formal for us?

That said, we felt on balance that we would be very happy to return and shall be clearer as to bedroom requirements on next trip.

Good bathroom and nice Occitane toiletries (bought some on return home). Lovely outdoor pool and tremendous Gym facilities. Also had a very good massage in Bellezza which is in the fitness area. Would NOT have known of this facility if I had not gone to gym - really feel they should put leaflets in the rooms. We women qite like to have a facial, nails done, etc. when we are on holiday and it is a lovely addition to such a nice quiet hotel.

Room Tip: Would recommend view of the sea if you can get it. Our garden view turned out to be a view of the k...

We stayed for three nights whilst attending a friend's wedding (also held at the hotel). As a result we received a good rate on rooms and we took advantage, staying in a sea view room with balcony for £150 a night.

The room itself was lovely, fairly spacious, modern and well presented. The view over the bay was fantastic, the balcony small but adequate with a couple of chairs to sit on, though note the balconies aren't at all private (low railings so you can see everyone sat out on your floor). A complimentary fresh fruit bowl which arrived at the room ten minutes after we did was a nice touch. There was also a tea & coffee tray and biscuits and free mineral water (two small bottles) although we only got the water on day one - it wasn't replaced on days two and three. The main downside to the room was the bed, two twins pushed together made up as a king rather than a proper double, which is something that always irritates me (fine for £50 a night, not for £150). There was a hair dryer but it was a built into the wall type, which don't get very got. The room had a decent safe and reception were quick to bring up an iron and ironing board when requested.

There was a decent size bathroom (shower over bath) with a full set of complimentary toiletries (including shampoo, conditioner and body lotion) useful to know if like us you flew without checked in baggage and so were limited on toiletries.

The breakfast each day was excellent. A full help yourself hot service, plus continental, cereals etc. it finished at 10am each day and even though we rolled down at 9.45, they were still bringing out fresh hot food. In fact they came over just gone 10am to check we had everything we wanted before they started clearing anything, which was thoughtful. The staff were all unfailing pleasant and helpful, the reception staff were great and happy to help out with maps and info on local running routes.

The outdoor pool was also great and perfectly warm enough to swim in in June, though we were the only people in there! The gardens were also really lovely. The hotel's health club is first rate - it is a proper health club which locals use, rather than just a hotel gym. The indoor pool was fine for a swim and not too busy even at the weekend, though unfortunately we never managed to get in the jacuzzi - it was monopolised by several big groups of lads and there seemed to be a constant queue for it.

If you haven't visited this part of Jersey before, St Brelade's Bay is a lovely stretch of sandy beach, only a 5-10 min drive from the airport. It does have a wide tidal range, so at times the sea is a long way from the promenade/high end of the beach, so if you plan to swim in the sea be prepared to walk a bit at certain times of the day! The promenade itself near the hotel has numerous restaurants and cafes, including a Pizza Express. We'd recommend the Crab Shack, there is a branch at Gorey as well and it does plenty more than just crab! If you walk along along the beach right across the bay (easier to do when tide is out as there is a big clutch of rocks in the middle that are hard to get past if the tide is right up) there is a pub called The Smugglers on the other side which does good food and makes a good walk there and back.

Room Tip: I'd recommend the rooms overlooking the Bay - the view is stunning.
