We stayed for 5 days early May in a 3 bedroom self catering cottage, Jasmine no. 9.

Starting with the property.... Beautiful. Muted tones, top of the range luxury beds, lovely bathrooms complete with White Company toiletries, well equipped kitchen and underfloor heating. I can't fault the fixtures and furnishings. We were comfortable and everything we needed was there. As we had a 2 year old in our party the safety gate was a big plus.

The service was excellent, we were welcomed with a drink in the bar and everyone was attentive and fun. They were as polite and courteous to our wee boy as they were to us. The little un was waking up in the morning asking to, 'go the hotel' he liked it so much.

We had breakfast twice (c£8 for continental or £15 for full English) the continental was good. A buffet style with meats, cheeses (not a great selection but fresh), gorgeous fruit, cereals, pastries and juices.

We ate in the evening once and it was fantastic, both service and quality top drawer. The menu changes daily c£22 for 2 courses and £28 for 3. I had a pigeon breast salad with crispy polenta cake ( very tasty) and a chicken breast stuffed with sun blush tomatoes and basil with parmentier potatoes and the most delicious sauce ever! My other half and his mum had asparagus soup (nice but needed a good grind of pepper) followed by tuna Provençal (him) and a lamb chop in a tasty jus. They have a good varied children's menu. The lovely touch was in the desserts, the adults all had a raspberry panacotta with fruit coulis and the little un had jelly and custard but they made them all look similar in the big bowls.

Now facing facts this is not a budget option but my goodness you feel as if you received your money's worth.

I can imagine at the height of the season parking would be at a premium though there may have been overspill I didn't see. There is a pool but we didn't use it.

We had a lovely superior room with private patio near pool. Unfortunately the weather was not good enough for us to make use of it. Service was excellent from house maid, to reception and the restaurant. Bus stop close by taking you into St Helier if you don't want to have hire car. Would highly recommend and will return.

We stayed 3 nights in early May and loved it. The room was delightful and the staff friendly and helpful and, although made up from a league of nations, which did not include British, all spoke almost perfect English. The breakfasts were good but could do with a better choice of cheese and ham for those like me who prefer Continental. My husband loved the bacon and said the quality of sausage was excellent. Plenty of choice of fruits, cereals, yoghurts etc. Dinner which was included for 1 night for us was top notch so we ate there each evening, choosing the bar menu on our last night as we had eaten out in a vineyard restaurant for lunch. The views of the lovely pool area enhanced our snack. La Place is in quiet country side but with a nearby bus stop, although the hire car we had proved very useful for getting around the beautiful island and seeing the more remote places. In the 3 days we only saw a small part of Jersey so will definitely be back and a stay at La Place is guaranteed.

Room Tip: We had asked for a quiet room as my husband is a very poor sleeper but all rooms in this lovely hotel are very quiet and are all of good quality from what we could see.

Our superior double room is spacious, very clean, tastefully furnished and decorated and has a secluded patio near the swimming pool. The bathroom has a separate shower and a large bath. There is a safe, a fridge and, marvel of marvels, a hair dryer with a diffuser! There are also tea and coffee making facilities.

The food in the dining room for breakfast and for dinner is excellent. Breakfast is included in the cost for the room, too.

There are 2 minor downsides.....the footsteps across the ceiling can be a bit annoying, but it happens only briefly. We have mentioned this to management. Also....the coffee at breakfast is instant coffee.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor have small seclude patios, on the first floor there is no one above you! All are quiet as far as traffic noise goes. There are some small cottages in the grounds which are very popular for family holidays.

Dear Maggie9

Thank you for finding the time to post your comments on Tripadvisor, I am delighted to hear that you thought our food in the restaurant to be excellent.

Thank you for speaking to us at check out with regards to the footsteps that were heard in your room across the ceiling. Whilst these rooms are newly refurbished and the flooring does have underlay, I am sorry to hear that they caused you inconvenience.

Also as mentioned on check out the coffee we serve at breakfast is not instant, as we do think a nice coffee is important to start the day off with! The coffee we use is in fact a local brand that we’ve had the pleasure of offering to our guests for a long time without it being mistaking for instant.

I do hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back next time you are in Jersey.

Kind regards,

Margriet
