I travel to Jersey a lot and have been taken to the Oyster Box for dinner on a number of occasions. The location is quite outstanding - being situated right on St Brelades beach and the huge glass windows in the main restaurant make you feel as though you are eating on the seashore, whilst remaining snug and warm inside.
The food is lovely, imaginative and delicious. You cannot fault it. It is a real 5* restaurant.
So why 4*s then? Because, the staff are extremely difficult to understand, and not always attentive to the customers' needs. I am not talking about being obsequious here, but this is not a cheap restaurant, so service is important, and it is simply not 5* service. These observations are based on a number of visits and not just one either!
