“Lovely setting and great food”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Very nice hotel not too far from the airport and the beach. We were stopping at St Brelades but it's only a short taxi ride to the Ocean restaurant. From the olives and nibbles at the start through all the courses the service was top class and matched the food but as we paid £186 for two of us I would expect the same. Portions were reasonable size and my wife was not impressed with her dessert but checking the menu it looks to have changed anyway. Worth a visit and I preferred it to Bohemia.

“The best Jersey restaurant”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

We visited this restaurant at the Atlantic Hotel for lunch during our annual visit to Jersey during 'Tennerfest'. The whole experience was wonderful. Friendly and efficient reception staff, attentive but not overbearing waiting staff and a very good restaurant manager. The food was of a standard expected of a Michelin starred restaurant, headed by Mark Jordan the executive chef. We have recommended the restaurant to friends who are visiting Jersey next week and hope they have as enjoyable time as we did.

“Oceantastic,”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

My husband and I stayed at The Atlantic Hotel in St Brelade and ate supper and breakfast at The Ocean on both days.
Our third visit in the past eighteen months, the restaurant this week was again truly wonderful and very difficult to fault.
Mark Jordan, the Michelin starred executive chef heads up a remarkable operation. Both breakfast and supper menus are a treat and I dare say, lunch, is probably also excellent. The room service menu looks good too but we"ve never had cause to use it.
Having listened to other guests requests, I feel certain that if there is something special you fancy, the restaurant will do its utmost to provide it.
The Maitre d'hôtel was sadly off, both days of our stay, and Martinho is a real old fashioned wonder, so we certainly missed him, but the Ocean restaurant was nevertheless in very safe hands.
Darren, the under Restaurant manager, is happily also a one off. Superbly trained, totally professional and charismatic, nothing misses Darren's eagle eyes! The more junior staff, mainly Portuguese and German, (a lovely smiley and highly informative young sommelier in particular from Dresden), are a joy.
The Ocean's Michelin starred food is delicious. There is a daily changing table d'hôte menu with 3 choices for each course. An amuse Bouche and pre dessert are served too. There is also a slightly more ornate a la carte and a vegetarian menu should you so wish at a modest supplement. Everything is seasonal, locally sourced wherever possible and of the best quality. Fabulous fish and seafood in particular.
The wine list is very comprehensive with a great choice available by the glass. Bottles start at £27 and there's are many bottles available under £50. You can also spend many hundreds of pounds if you choose to.
Coffees and teas come with delicious chocolates and petits fours.
The Ocean restaurant is very fairly priced for this level of dining and I highly commend it.

“Best food on Jersey”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

The service was fantastic, the wine waiter could provide extensive information about any wine we asked him about and the food was to die for. What an absolutely incredible experience, and the hotel is one of the best we have stayed in.

“Classic elegant dining, immaculate service”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

Visited having been to Bohemia in St Helier the preceding evening. This is a different kettle of fish - much more formal, and in a more classically elegant setting.

The food (and amuse bouche) was more restrained in style than Bohemia but undeniably of the highest quality. The staff are attentive in an inconspicuous way and the entire experience was most enjoyable.

If I had a quibble it would be the whisky list which I found a little lacking in depth but that would be splitting hairs. Overall, a most enjoyable experience that were I local I would certainly repeat.
