“Lovely meal”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

Visited the hotel as we were staying in another hotel belonging to the same group. Initially called in for morning coffee.
Service was excellent and the views from the terrace overlooking St Aubins Bay are spectacular. Were so impressed that we went back that evening for a meal, again served on the terrace. Again, we found the service excellent and the menu extensive. We would thoroughly recommend it!

Dear canda_arm,

Thank you so much for your review, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the Cristina. I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. I agree with your comment about the spectacular view although my colleagues at the Golden Sands and Somerville Hotel would argue that they have the best view in Jersey. I'll let you decide.

Kind regards

Went on holiday with my partner. Room was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was more than substantial with plenty of choices. We ate the restaurant two nights food was very good with excellent service. Facilities clean, pool was immaculate. We would definitely stay again. The only downfall was the access from the road into the hotel drive, but didn't spoil our stay. Plenty of car parking.

Dear BatesLincolnshire,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review, it is extremely important for us to receive feedback.

For any future guests reading this, as pointed out in this and many previous reviews, the turning into the Hotel is rather sharp and can be difficult to negotiate. We have created a map and directions which are on our website under the "contact us" tab. Please print this before coming to Jersey as they will direct you on a far safer and only slightly longer route. These directions are also on display at reception and printed copies are available for your use.

Many thanks once again for providing your feedback, I very much look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind regards

This is our favourite hotel as during one stay my husband proposed and we spent our honeymoon here. We have just returned from a 6 night stay and it did not disappoint. We had a balcony room withe the gorgeous views and it was spotless with comfy beds and plenty of storage. We stayed bed and breakfast only as we have friends on the island to visit in the evening but did eat in on the last night and the meal was very good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we shall definitely return perhaps twice next year.

My husband and I have just returned home after spending a week at this hotel. As mentioned in many reviews, the views from the hotel are spectacular, especially from the dining room. We found our room clean and spacious with good storage facilities. The beds were most comfortable but a softer pillow would have made them perfect. The breakfasts were very good and the evening meals, which we ate on two occasions, were of a high standard although the chef was rather liberal with the garlic. The staff were always pleasant and helpful with good local knowledge...especially Annette in the bar and Susan on reception. If driving, access to the hotel can be difficult because of a steep turn into the drive but you become used to turning eventually. All in all a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Book a room with a sea view.

My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay at Hotel Christina. Our room (311) was lovely, comfortable, well appointed and had spectacular views of St Aubins Bay. I had two of the best night sleeps I have ever had in an Hotel - though I do agree with the reviewer who mentioned the doors closing quite loudly at night. The bathroom was small but clean and, as has been pointed out in an earlier comment, the shower is over the bath so might be a bit difficult for less able or older guests. On our first night we ate in the main restaurant - what a beautiful meal, with lovely, attentive (but not overly) service. We declined the Half Board upgrade option and ate out on the second night and, although the meal was nice, it wasn't a patch on the Hotel restaurants offerings - and it was more expensive to boot! Breakfast was nice, though we did find some of the hot food a little overdone. However, I must stress this was very late in the morning about 9.30am and breakfast finishes at 10.00am. There is always the option of ordering from the menu and, had we stayed longer, I am sure we would have done this. The Hotel staff were great, very friendly and knowledgable. We always feel awkward about tipping - who? how much? and when? The Hotel Christina request that if you would like to give a tip, it is given in at reception at the end of your stay - the tips are then shared out equally between all the staff. We walked to the War Tunnels - though it definitely wasn't the "five minute walk" the receptionist told us about!! But, it was a lovely afternoon and a pleasant walk - the bus ride back was very welcome though. The bus stop is at the bottom of the garden path and was an excellent way of seeing the island and all it has to offer. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning to return with our young daughter next year.

Dear Camb68,

Thank you so much for posting such an extensive review. I'm very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the wrong information for walking to the war tunnels. I think the receptionist must have been a power walker!

I very much look forward to welcoming you back to the Cristina with your daughter in the near future.

Kind regards

We've just returned from a 6 day stay at the Cristina and must say that we endorse the positive comments made about it.
We had an excellent room (308) with wonderful views of St Aubin and St Helier. Clean and comfortable - everything worked. We were impressed with the staff we came into contact with. Every one of them from the managers, through waiters to room staff was friendly and very helpful. At the end of a long season when most of them were looking forward to getting back home this was no mean feat.
We had breakfast every day and there was a good selection of hot and cold food from the buffet, frequently replenished. Watching the Las Vegas style greediness from some of the guests was a bit stomach-turning though! We ate in the restaurant and in the bar area on a couple of occasions and enjoyed our meals which were well presented and with good portion sizes.
The only negative about the hotel is one which a large number of hotels suffer from, namely the super strong room door closing catches making it just about impossible to shut the door quietly. In a peaceful hotel like this, the noise of doors banging late at night and early in the morning was often the only sound. Surely, it can't be that difficult for hotels to sort this out?

The bottom line? We'd stay there again without any hesitation.

Room Tip: Ask for a third floor room with balcony between 301 and 318 (I think). Terrific views.

Dear Faircot,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review, I greatly value all feedback. I'm very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and wish to return. I will look into what we can do about the automatic door closers. They were brand new this year along with the very heavy oak doors. There may be a way of making close softer.

For future guests: our top floor rooms are numbered 301 - 315. We cannot guarantee which floor your room will be on. We will only guarantee your room type.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the Cristina in the near future.

Kind regards
