My husband and I stayed here as we were attending a leaving do at the hotel. I have had lunch/dinner here before and was very happy with it and had always wanted to stay overnight so I jumped at the opportunity. The staff are very pleasant and exceptionally helpful. Check in was smooth. We had a room overlooking St. Aubins bay, because it is amazing, well worth the extra £30. The room was small, very nicely decorated. The bathroom was small with an over the bath shower, very powerful. I have to have a little moan here as I do like to see personal shampoo and body wash, not in a big pump, even if it is Elemis, and there was no body lotion. The bed was amazing, one of the best hotel nights sleep Ive had! Pillows and duvet were perfect. We had a lovely meal, they catered for 70 and everyone said theirs was lovely. Breakfast the next day was buffet and a served cooked as well which was lovely, especially looking over the bay. Very nice and would be more than happy to return.

Room Tip: Sea view is well worth it.

Third visit here for Christmas, once again hotel cannot be faulted, the friendly welcome by David and his staff set the tone for the rest of the break. The service, food and quality at this hotel is of the highest order, confirmed by the amount of "locals" who dine. The location, set on a hill overlooking the harbour is great, but the walk up the hill could cause problems for the less mobile.Car parking is good, good public transport and some very nice signposted walks make this an ideal destination. If you like good food, exceptional service and great location try the Somerville, you won't be disappointed.Sea view room make it even better.

Room Tip: Sea view room if you can.

I would like to thank the staff of the Somerville for making our New Year trip so special and for making us feel so welcome. The food is excellent and the location is wonderful of course but I think the staff are what makes this hotel so nice. This was our second stay here and we will definitely be back for the new new years eve party next year - if they will have us!

Lovely hotel, location and staff. Quality of food very good. Lots of pubs, eating places nearby if you don't want to eat at the hotel. Lots of information available at the hotel. Took a long, cold, wet, sun shining, rainbow seen walk from Hotel to St Helier where all the shops and most of the activities are, walk approx. 4/5 miles. 2 buses available with easy pricing quite regularly at. £1.70 per person from nearby the hotel bus stop into St Helier. Did have a couple of niggling issues - morning cleaner noisy outside bedroom door waking us up and window kept blowing open throughout one of the nights, but these were all sorted out quickly and efficiently. It was very disappointing at the time because we only had 4 nights and desparately needed to relax. As the hotel wasn't busy it suited us fine. We would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it if you don't want to be too near the town.

Just returned at a 4-night break from The Somerville where we had a great time.
The location is superb being in an elevated position overlooking St Aubin Harbour, Bay and Fort St Aubin. (opt for a sea-facing room if available and you will not be disappointed).
A short stroll takes you down to the harbour side and the village where there are several really good restaurants. The Tides restaurant in the Hotel is itself very good but it is nice having such a good choice nearby.
We travelled the island extensively during our stay and didn't see one hotel where we thought we might have preferred to be.
The Somerville offers traditional comfort and excellent service. There is free WiFi throughout which is always very handy.
If there was one gripe it was that the bar and wine list prices were a little on the high side.

Room Tip: Opt for a sea view room. The 3rd floor offers the best views. A Superior room offers a bit more spac...

We stayed here on a half board five night short break in September. The hotel is ideally situated just a ten minute walk down to the harbour with a frequent excellent local bus service to St Helier and other parts of the island. Our standard room was on the rear corner of the hotel. It was clean, pleasant and well maintained. Staff were excellent, very friendly, cheerful and helpful. As we were booked on a half board basis, we ate in the hotel every evening and found that the food was excellent. A hearty breakfast each morning set us up for the day sightseeing around the island. We will certainly stay here again when we visit the island.

My wife and I had booked a three night autumn break, to celebrate her birthday on Saturday 19th October. Upon arrival at the hotl, as on previous occasions, the staff were pleasant and efficient, and very helpful.
We celebrated my wifes birthday with a meal in Tides restaurant and , on reflection, we both agreed that it was one of the best meals we had enjoyed on the island.Service, too, was faultless.
Now to the help required. We were due to return to Manchester on 21st October and upon attempting to get through Security at the airport, we were advised that the Flybe flight had been cancelled. The staff at the Flybe desk were helpful, offering to either fly us back via Birmingham then a coach, or via Southampton much later. We declined both due to my wifes spinal condition ( which makes non-jet flights and coach journeys impossible ). We therefore arranged a flight for the next day - fingers crossed !
So after retrieving our hire car from Europcar ( many thanks - smooth and easy to arrange), we headed back to the Somerville and were very pleased to be offered a room for one additional night at the same rate that we had just enjoyed. Again, the reception staff were very understanding and sympathetic and offered to keep us updated on the flight situation.
The return to the UK next day went very smoothly - now to see if the EC Regulation 261/2004 applies to our flight !

Room Tip: Sea facing a must, but room 201 can be a little noisy as next to the main stairs
