We chose the Somerville after a reccommendation from friends; it was the most excellent choice.
After a short journey from the airport by bus and a walk to the hotel we were greeted by the staff in a very efficient and friendly way. The service during our 4 -day stay could not be faulted. Moreover, our Anniversary dinner and the attention we were given was exceptional, making it a very memorable occasion!

The view from our room and the dining room provided a delightful panoramic scene across St. Aubin's Bay and the Hotel has an interesting history and exudes ambience.

We would certainly be happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Room with a sea view is a must!

We stayed for 3 nights beginning on 5th October which was a wonderful time to be away with the wonderful weather we had at that time. We took a taxi from the airport which only cost us around £10. As we pulled up Joe was there to help us with our luggage, check in was very quick and within a couple of minutes we were in our room. We had a sea view room, 316, what an amazing view, it couldn't have been better. The room was lovely with a huge bed, it was so comfortable, two chairs by the window, plenty of drawer space and loads of coat hangers. Thee was a good selection of tea, coffee and chocolate with biscuits. Also the bathroom was fab with a big double ended bath and separate shower cubicle, the window also looked out over the harbour. The toiletries were all Elemis which were lovely. The room was kept very clean each day.
We ate in the restaurant on our first night, it was an excellent meal, couldn't fault anything at all. The view was amazing which made the evening very special. There was a wedding in the hotel and we were warned that we may hear some noise but it just added to the atmosphere in the bar area and once we went to our room we never heard a thing.
Breakfast each morning was great, plenty to choose from on the buffet or full English if you wanted. You could have your coffee out on the terrace in the warm sunshine which was nice. If only we had taken our swimwear, the pool looked so inviting but we never dreamed that the weather would be so good.
St Aubins is a lovely place, much nicer than St Helier, loads of restaurants and a lovely bar by the harbour. We took taxis around the island during our stay, quite reasonable and the drivers were very chatty and gave us lots of information which was a bonus.
All in all it was a fabulous break and we will certainly return, we have told so many of our friends about the Somerville and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of visiting Jersey.

I had a wonderful meal with a group of friends. The food was beautifully presented, the service was excellent, and it was extremely good value. The view from the restaurant is right across St Aubin's bay. We had such a good time, and so we booked our Christmas lunch there! Down on the Terrace we viewed a bride and groom plus guests enjoying the wedding reception, how idyllic!
Plenty of are to park your car.

Many thanks for your review of your recent visit to the restaurant at the Somerville Hotel. Delighted to read that you had an enjoyable meal. The Tennerfest will be running through until the middle of November and we do change the menus around so hopefully we may be able to tempt you up for a second visit before it ends, otherwise we look forward to welcoming you back over the festive period.

Kind regards

Firstly the bad point, if you have walking difficulties this may not be the place for you as it is up a high slope of a road. If you have a car then obviously there is no problem, but if you are thinking of hiring a car at the airport I can tell you that this takes sometime and involves a short journey in a mini bus. It is far quicker to take a taxi and then hire a car at the hotel the following day. The hotel has a car park but this can get full. very quickly.

Now the good points, booking into the hotel was painless. We were exceptionally comfortable and our room was of a very high quality. The view from the bedroom and restaurant was of the entire bay and is wonderful. The staff in the restaurant were very skilful and we appreciated their attentiveness at the evening meal and at breakfast, (with one exception that is, but you can always get a weaker member of staff). The lady who worked the bar plus Vlad and Adrian were all most pleasant and helpful.

The Breakfast was good and plentiful and the evening meal was excellent with plenty of choices, plus sorbets, with coffee at the conclusion. The wines were good, but a little more expensive than expected. There is an occasional cabaret in the restaurant and this seems to attract locals and adds numbers for the meal.

Booking out at Reception was just as easy as arriving and the bill was settled in minutes. Taxis can always be booked via the Reception Staff.

An excellent hotel for a mini- break or longer in Jersey. The test we always give on leaving is
" would we go back ", the answer is " yes, without doubt ".
Thank you Somerville.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are a must and you always get what you pay for.

Many thanks for your kind review. Regarding hire cars, just a note of interest, if reserving a hire car through Avis this will involve a short mini bus drive from the airport to get to their fleet of cars. If hiring through Hertz or Europcar these companies have a fleet of cars at the airport itself and so no mini bus ride is required. The hotel car park does get busy at times but we will always find a space for our residents. The entertainment at the hotel usually takes place from Mid May - Mid Oct each year. I'm delighted that you would return to the hotel and the team and myself hope that we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back very soon.

Kind regards

David Plowright

The restaurant staff are excellent and the food was of a high standard, accompanied by a great choice of wines and an amazing view.
Breakfast was also excellent.
Would definitley return and recommend.

Lovely hotel, providing very good facilities, is spotlessly clean, has the most helpful staff and the most superb views over the bay of St Aubins. Our room was a good size but a little dated so found myself feeling a little disappointed when we first saw it. The bathroom was very well planned out but I would have been happier to find a more hygienic glass partition for the over the bath shower instead of a shower curtain; the shower was brilliant! The public rooms are again very clean and the bar area and dining area are very pleasant indeed, again with the "to die for" views. Breakfast was a little disjointed as the staff didn't seem to have their own areas and we found ourselves having to say several times to different waiters that yes we had ordered or no we hadn't ordered our breakfast. The food was good but I had to return my order one morning as it was cold and when it was returned the order was different from the one I sent back!!

Value for money? I must say that I found the cost of our mini break at the Somerville Hotel very expensive and felt that we shouldn't have had any issues with this hotel at all. I suppose though that somebody has to pay for the views and I can't fault those!

I would make a return visit to the Somerville Hotel.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are in my opinion a must.

I have stayed at the Somerville several times, on business trips, so never longer than two nights.
I am never disappointed, and look forward to a night or two in the Hotel.
The facilities are first rate, with superb views across the bay, from some of the rooms, and especially from there restaurant.
Having stayed in many of the rooms, I can confirm that some are smaller than others, but none felt cramped. Perhaps that was because I was a single guest.
My rooms have always been spotless, as have the bathrooms.
Although I have not had the chance to use the pool, or sundeck, it appears to be spacious, again with amazing view across the bay.
Down the steep road to the seafront, there are numerous restaurants within two hundred to three hundred yards.
the staff have always been friendly and helpful.
I hope you all enjoy your stays as much as I have done.
