There can't be many better views in Jersey than that from the terrace of the Somerville, especially if having a pre-dinner drink. This was our fourth stay in this hotel and it remains a favourite. We have stayed in the new garden rooms on our last two visits and would highly recommend them, coming with their own patio & garden area. The furnishings are top class, spotlessly clean with excellent housekeeping. The reception staff are terrific - welcoming on arrival and helpful throughout the week. Things didn't always go seamlessly in the restaurant at breakfast but these were minor issues. There are excellent local restaurants which we sampled so we only dined in Tides once but thoroughly enjoyed the Lobster Special menu. St Aubin is a superb destination being on the main bus route to St Helier and the west coast. It is also good walking territory with a pleasant walk along an old railway line which goes to Corbiere
We would highly recommend the hotel and look forward to our next visit..

Room Tip: Garden rooms are the best, but always go for a sea view

I visited with my daughter for a 'girlie break' and we both agreed that Jersey and the Sommerville were a perfect choice. I shall certainly be returning.

The hotel is perfectly positioned above the harbour in the village of St Aubins. It is definitely worth choosing a room with a sea view for beautiful views across the harbour. The hotel is well appointed and the garden/swimming pool area just lovely.

Service is exemplary; nothing seems too much trouble. They are happy to advise on visits and restaurants etc. The food in the hotel is of very good quality. We also enjoyed the live entertainment one evening.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view or try one of the new Garden Rooms.

This was our first trip to Jersey and we had researched the island and its Hotels on the web. This was time well spent as we were both very pleased with St Aubin and with the Somerville. The position of the Hotel above the harbour is excellent and the restaurant has great views.Be prepared for a steep climb up to the Hotel and also that the car park is not the biggest. The room with a sea view we had (96) was compact but clean and well furnished. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We opted for the half board package which was good value as the food is of a high quality. The pool is small but heated and set in a nice private garden area. We made good use of the pool, (but not as much as one French family, who were there by 8:30 every morning until late in the afternoon). From conversations around the pool it appears that the Somerville has a loyal following, with many guests returning frequently. This is understandable given the good atmosphere. Overall we will probably return to Jersey and probably to the Somerville. I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Have just returned from a week at the Somerville. It is wonderful hotel, fantastic views over the harbour, outstanding customer service, excellent food. The staff are so professional but very friendly and approachable at the same time. I truely cannot fault the hotel. I have been before and the quality never changes. Some reviews say the 'Classic' rooms can be on the small side and I can see their point, however, we had one and it was absoluetly fine. The pool is heated and the views are stunning. There is a short steepish slope from the harbour to the hotel so this shoiuld be borne in mind for anyone who would have difficulty with this. We will return again next year!! All the staff are great but special thanks to Neel, Fabian and the rest of the team as they made our trip great fun.

Room Tip: It is always worth paying the extra for a sea view room.

I booked the hotel for dinner and one night's stay for my husband's birthday. We arrived at 2.00 and was able to go straight to our room. We sat around the pool in the sun all afternoon and even ventured in! Very refreshing in a heatwave. Don't believe the staff if they tell you it was heated. Our meal that evening was very good and we had the promised window seat so were able to watch the changing tide & view, including the thunderstorm!
The staff provided a little end of meal birthday surprise, which was a nice touch. The live piano playing was also a pleasant background. We slept well and enjoyed the early sunrise from our seaview window. Breakfast was also good.
We were able to spend the rest of the day round the pool & enjoyed a good light lunch. As only residents are able to use the pool & holidaymakers tend to go out it was lovely & quiet to sit & read.
We would recommend the hotel for such an experience.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view and a later check out. Request a window seat for dinner. If it is a special occas...

Many thanks for your comments and thank you for selecting the Somerville as the venue to celebrate your birthday. It is always a pleasure to see locals taking advantage of our accommodation services as well as our food and beverage outlets. I can assure you that the pool is heated from May - Septemebr - perhaps with the excessive heat that we have had it seemed rather cold compared to the outside heat :-). We look forward to seeing you again. Kind regards David Plowright

Many thanks for your comments. Whilst we do have a superb view over the sea most of our guests tend to regard our location as more of a Country House Hotel with sea views rather than a sea side location. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel again soon. Kind regards David Plowright
