“Superb staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2011

This was an overnight stay in conjunction with the hotels "Tennerfest" menu. The staff were enormously helpful as you would expect in a hotel of this quality. They were also oustandingly cheerful and good humoured throughout. The room was very comfortable; the view, over the harbour world class. The "tennerfest menu" was possibly the best we have sampled and beautifully prepared. Breakfast was as good as you would hope for.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room at the front with a view across the bay and harbour

Excellent, breakfast and evening meal superb (however if you like a few beers before dinner then drink in the town first as the bar prices are expensive.)

Try and get a sea view as the room we had was noisy due to an extractor fan running from 08:00 - 22:00 (then it's switched off).

Parking is free but don't forget that you can be double parked, staff are great.

This was our third stay in Jersey and we stayed 4 nights at the Somerville. Every aspect of the hotel experience was excellent. When we checked in we benefitted from a free upgrade to a room with a sea view. The staff were friendly and efficient. I took advantage of the freshly cooked full English breakfasts and they were superb. The bathroom housed a big tub, very useful to relieve bones aching after a long walk and the shower was powerful, controllable and as hot as you wished. The TV had plenty of channels and there was tea making equipment and a safe. The free wifi worked well all over the hotel.
The somerville has an excellent location, just a above St Aubin, so you can walk down to the restaurants in St Aubin or up the hill to Portelet.
The cost worked out at just less than £60 a night for the two of us, which was a bargain.

We stayed here for a week in August. A lovely hotel, with nice modern rooms and bathrooms. Fresh towels were always supplied and tea/coffee/biscuits were always replenished in the rooms.
The food in the restaurant was of a very high standard with a great selection to choose from. The staff (in particular the bar and restaurant staff) were very attentive and always very friendly/chatty-however breakfast service wasn't as attentive, however it was much busier then.
The pool was lovely and there was free wifi in the main areas of the hotel.
All in all a lovely hotel and great location.

Just had a 3 night stay at this hotel. The seaview room we had was small but clean and comfortable. The only downside was that it was right by the car park and with the window open at night time you could hear any noise of restuarant guests leaving. It is situated up a rather steep hill but is only a few minutes walk away from shops, bars, restuarants and the beach. The food was good although breakfast was always a little chaotic and as long as you were not in a rush then acceptable. (Please note that there are steps down to the restuarant). The staff were all really friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A nice place to stay in a great position with lovely views over the bay from the restuarant.

We are both in our 70,s and if you are looking for a traditional hotel and not the modern plastic and chrome versions the Somerville is your place. Ask for a seaview room costs a bit more but worth it, lovely location overlooking the marina and bay, great food in the restaurant. The staff were efficient and friendly.St aubins viilage itself is a few minutes walk away with numerous restaurants and bars. One word of caution, access to the hotel is up quite a steep hill, so if you have mobility or breathing problems hire a car, we did and it made things much easier.

Room Tip: Sea view room

The service on arrival right through to departure was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The accommodation was good the room adequate and clean, the bed comfortable and the bathroom clean. Room service was prompt. The restaurant was pleasant and all meals and service superb. What a nice change to have bacon and eggs etc freshly cooked [not under heated lamps !!!!!] The service and food at the wedding was once again faltless, the waiters all very attentive but discreet. Thankyou to all the staff for my stay [4 days].
The hotel itself is very pleasant and has great views accross the bay. The gardens are very pretty and are there to be sat in, the pool was clean and friends used the facilities, towels always available

Room Tip: Rooms can be a bit warm as windows do not open very wide,I was on ground floor facing front and carp...
