“First Class Experience”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

Visited this restaurant Wed evening, Nov 13th, for my wife's birthday, together with our two adult children. We enjoyed cocktails at the bar whilst choosing from their superb and extensive menu.
We each had three courses and in every case, at every course, the food was first class! There is a very good warm ambience to the place , and the restaurant was full , unlike most other venues in St.Aubin that evening. The staff are very attentive and friendly.
Would recommend this restaurant to anyone living in or visiting Jersey...the best restaurant in the best Jersey location.

“Superb Best in The West.”
Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

We were welcomed warmley by The maitre d', she is always friendly and proffesional. My wife and I started with a cheeky little aperatife from their cocktail menu, the barman was very informative about the cocktails and drinks which he served to us at the bar.
The Sunday lunch menu had a great varied choice. The quality of food was extremely good. It's always nice to start off with a complimentary amuse-bouché. My wife's starter of asparagus with hollandaise and poached egg was cooked perfectly. My starter of lambs kidneys was very tasty.
We both had the roast pork which was cooked perfectly and served with just simply the best crackling. If I wanted to be slightly critical the pork was possibly sliced too thinly. The vegetables were presented in the huge Yorkshire pudding which was a nice touch and the roast potatoes were perfect. Unfortunately we didn't have enough room for a dessert but enjoyed a very satisfying stroll home. Thanks Team Cheffins.

“Not terribly exciting”

Kinda dated, kinda dull. Don't really remember the food. I think the whole place just needs a reboot.

“No hesitation in recommending Cheffins”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

We'd visited Cheffins on our previous visit to Jersey, and put it top of our list of places to go this time.
Once again the staff were excellent: very efficient, but friendly too, which is a difficult balance to strike. They were quick to greet us at the door and take us to our table, and they were attentive throughout the meal.
The food was of the highest quality, with both starters and main courses excellent. The ingredients were of good quality, well cooked and well seasoned. The range of dishes available on the set price menu is impressive. Normally this might set a little alarm bell ringing, but actually everything we chose was really good. (This isn't one of those establishments that has everything standing by ready to be zapped in the microwave!) The desserts were fine, but maybe not quite up to the excellent standard of the starters and mains. Perhaps the chef doesn't love his desserts quite enough, or maybe the main courses were just too hard an act to follow. Still, no complaints.

We chose from the set price menu, and this place certainly scores a 10/10 for value.

Our only niggle was with the lighting at our first table (a wash of red light from the LED light fitting above, which would have done the food no favours), but they were happy to move us to a different table with whiter light, and from there on everything was perfect.
