My wife and I choose this hotel as it had good reviews and it was in a price range we had budgeted for. £350 each for ferry, hotel and food. Its a 2 star so it not going to be the Ritz.. Take off the ferry, thats about £35 a night in breakfast and dinner. not bad.

Very easy to find, in a nice small village. Very friendly staff, seemed OK for a 2 star hotel. The room ws OK, a bed, furniture, kettle and a bathroom. What else do you need?

We had a drink in the bar and set down for an early night.
I dont think we had a nights uninterupted sleep. The bed was uncomfortable, the sheets had holes in them. But the worse thing was the doors. The doors inside the corridors and enterance. Bang, bang, thud, bang bang and it goes on. Some door closers would of saved a few hours of constant thudding of doors. Then the room cleaners talking at 7:30 outside your room.

Other than that, the food was reasonable, not to my taste every night but still good. A little small on portion size, but hey I needed to go on a diet. beer worked out at £3 a pint for Stella. £3 for a nice glass of red.
The pool was nice, the staff friendly and loads of parking.

Overall, we had a great week, its a great location and easy to disappear for the day.
Would not go back, but for the money I thought it was a good hotel.

We stopped at this hotel first week in July 09 and enjoyed it. We originally tried a hotel previously visited but they were full, the Beachcomber was one i'd not heard of but got HB free via Jersey Travel site so decided to go for it, £574 for 2 of us. Our room was very nice and large on the top floor with pool view, it was very clean and well presented and we were more than happy. The staff were great and personally I cannot understand any negative reviews re staff. The breakfasts were great too, help yourself style and set us up for the day ahead. Dinners were also nice with choice of 3 starters / mains / sweets each day, a tad on the small side (im a Yorkshire lad !) but adequate and well cooked. I did not feel as though I had to buy supper or stock up on snacks in the room so dont be put off by other reviews. The 'Only' down side if the chef checking reviews, some meals needed sauces / gravy.

Other than gravy ! we could find no faults and we really did enjoy our stay. The location is not sea front nor busy / built up and a nice 10 minute stroll (max) through the lovely Royal Jersey golf course takes you right to the beach. Gorey harbour is c 1 (ish) miles away (Jersey Pottery on same route) and in easy walking distance after dinner. We often went to the harbour for drinks sat at the 'Moorings', Lovely :-). A bus back if your legs wobbly ! was £1 each and ran regular.

A shop and petrol station are nearby as is the Beausite hotel. A gem if you like walking is the reservoir, so peaceful and hardly used by tourists. Its about 1 to 1.5 miles away , turn left out of the hotel then left at the green lane opposite cemetery, then left at the top. Its easy going around the walk and about 2 to 2.5 miles, well worth a visit.

All in all we both enjoyed our stay and would return without hesitation.

When we stayed there, there was holes in the bedspread, towel rail kept falling off of the wall. The main evening meals are child portions looked very nice but not for adults you will need to eat elsewhere. Breakfasts were very good when they had the staff to look after the guests. Manager worked very hard when enough staff were not available.
2 stars is a fair rating for this hotel but it has the scope to do better. Keep all receipts and any cash bills as they will try to charge you again when you have left.

Having read the positive reviews of Beachcombers, my family and I were very much looking forward to our recent stay - but we ended up very disappointed. It is true that all three of our rooms were spacious and well equipped - the only problem being that in our room the bathhroom light was directly connected to the very noisy "extractor fan" - not good news for your partner if you need to use the bathroom at night! It is also true that both the hot and cold buffet breakfasts were excellent. Our dissatisfaction entirely concerned the evening meals - never in thirty years of staying at a varierty of hotels in the Channel Islands have I seen such small portion sizes served up. For example on the Sunday evening we each got just one,not very large, potato with our roast beef together with a small portion of mixed veg. On another occasion the melon with summer fruit coulis starter was so small you almost needed a microscope to see it! The quality of the food itself was generally o.k. (without being brilliant). It seems such a shame that an otherwise pleasant hotel, with friendly and attentive staff, should let itself down in this crucial area - certainly if I had not been on a "deal" and had had to pay the full £15.95 menu price every eveniong I would have felt very aggrievd indeed!

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this brilliant hotel.the staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.
our room was spotlessly clean with fresh linens -even a new shower curtain- every day.
the food and service in the dining room was great and if the bacon sometimes ran out at breakfast time (not surprising when you could help yourself to as much as you liked as often as you likeed!) it was very quickly replenished .
the facilities were great, a well supplied room for the youngsters & a lovely pool.altough our own kids weren't with us, the children who were staying at the same time as us appeared to be treated very well.

Everything is wonderful here. The staff - all staff from reception to waitstaff to cleaners - all were very friendly, always had a smile and something polite to say. The rooms are generous, the linen plentiful - towels, pillows etc., Beds comfortable. Breakfasts were fantastic, continental or cooked breakfast available. There were other meals available too, morning and afternoon tea and dinner, although we did not have these meals, the menu sounded wonderful and heard from other guests that the meals were very good. I cannot fault this hotel. It is perfect in every way. There is a pool, games room for children, dvds to watch, tennis court, pool table, magazines to read.

This is the second time I've stayed at Beachcombers and I must say the new owner is certainly upgrading the hotel. It's become contemporary but with a slightly eclectic note thus maintaining it's individuality. Having met the owner, he adivised me that the bathrooms are being refurbished this winter, but like Rome which was not built in a day it all takes time. Quite refreshing I thought given the current economic climate.
The evening meal was quite different in as much as often there were chinese and indian choices on offer together with good old english favourites, using fresh produce, totally scrumptious.
The staff are extremely helpful and are always making sure that all is well without seeming to invade your privacy.
The room, albeit slightly dated was cleaned daily to a good standard as was the communal parts of the hotel. Due to the time of year the pool was closed but the tennis court and games room were still open.
All in all a delightful hotel offering good value for money and I look forward to returning in Spring 2009.
