“Fab wedding venue”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

We stayed there in June while attending a family wedding. Wonderful location on the banks of the River Shannon, beautifully picturesque. Food at the wedding was absolutely gorgeous and the staff were very hospitable. Really lovely venue, well worth a look for that special day, and equally a lovely weekend break.

This hotel is set in own beautiful gardens that go down to the River Shannon. There's a lovely walk along by the river into the village.
The hotel is very comfortable, we were holidaying with friends and were put in one of the suites; a small house with dining area and spacious lounge with two settees, tv and patio door leading onto the gardens. Upstairs there were two good sized bedrooms, both with en-suites and the rear room had a balcony overlooking the garden.
We ate in the main building and the food could not be faulted, and there was plenty of it. There was a comfy bar to relax in that served bar meals during the day - the cream tea comes highly recommended as does the guiness!
We would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: The garden cuites are very comfortable

We were married at Castle Oaks House in May 2012. We can not recommend this hotel high enough. It was simply an amazing place to get married and we were so happy with every aspect of their service.

We had a group of guests from Australia, who all used the holiday homes / hotel rooms leading up to the wedding and all of them were so happy with the service and quality, particularly the fully self catering holiday homes. The added amenities including the pool and gym, meals in the lounge, free wifi and bar, made their stay and enjoyable and unforgettable experience.

Everything was perfect for our wedding. The food was amazing, The main reception room is brilliant and the surrounds on the estate of Castle Oaks provide a beautiful setting for a wedding. The staff all went out of their way to ensure our big day went off perfectly. We must make particular mention to Jamie, the Banquet Manager at the Castle Oaks. His dedication and commitment to our wedding was simply amazing. He covered every single aspect of the wedding and always ensured the day went exactly as we planned. We are so thankful he was there and assure you that Jamie will do whatever it takes to ensure your wedding is everything you want it to be.

Make sure you book for the Castle Oaks for your wedding, you will have an amazing experience and a day you will never forget !!!

We had our wedding here in February and it was so relaxed and professional. The food was excellent, on time, hot and plenty of it. Typical old manor charm allowing one to escape the crowd for a while. We will find an excuse to return.

We stayed in Castle Oaks 15 years ago prior to several building additions to the property, which changed it from a property with a once regal manor house to a property with a regal manor house and several motel-ish building additions.

Yet with these changes, some things have remained the same. The staff is as gracious as always. The pub/restaurant within the manor house has friendly service, great atmosphere and lively conversations between guests and locals, the Shannon River directly adjacent to the property remains mighty and majestic.

Although I wished they had not so changed the property, I understand their need to. If you squint a bit, you can see what it once was and they obviously photograph the property to capture that era and not the stark and modern additions.

Room Tip: Stay in the main house and preferably in the Shannon Suite. You have an un obstructed view of the S...

I recently stayed with a tour group at the Castle Oaks House Hotel and we all had an excellent time there. The elegant diningroom is complemented with equally excellent food and service. I stayed for 2 nights with 50 tourists and the hotel catered to our every need with a warm and friendly service. The accommodation in the beautiful garden suites was very comfortable and peaceful. After dinner, clients had the possibility of a leisurely stroll in the lovely gardens along the river Shannon. On tour, good service and efficiency is so important, as well as good food. We had it all in the Castle Oaks Hotel. Thank you so much to all concerned! I can't recommend the hotel highly enough.

Room Tip: Rooms are in the nearly garden suites and most have beautiful views and, above all, are in a very pe...
