Just want to say a big thank you to all the staff at Tinakilly. We got married there on the 28/12/2012. This was the 3rd time we stayed there and I have to say the service and facilities were perfect in every way.
Real old style country house beautiful rooms, grounds and the food is outstanding

It was lovely getting feed back from all our friends and family on our wedding and hearing that
they are planning return visits

Would highly recomend

We stayed here for one night as a package for one night in a junior suite with the prestige taster menu. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist Jolene, who provided us with all the information we needed for our stay. She told us we had a beautiful room with a wonderful sea view. However, it was very difficult to see the view as it was obscured by trees, but we didn't mind at all. We stayed in the new wing and the room was very cosy and the ambience of the room reflected the period. The bathroom however was a major letdown......more like a 2-star than a 4-star, with a shower that pained me to stand in and paint coming from the ceiling, the tiles old and tired and the trim around the bath peeling and very very off putting. It was as much as I coud do to dance around the shower head and get out again. The wooden toilet seat was not properly secured to the bowl and not for the faint hearted (wooden toilet seats are very unhygienic). The rooms are not very well sound proofed and twice in the night I experienced the sounds of someone going to the loo!!!!!!

We ventured down for our meal and this was a very enjoyable experience. The portions were very small even for a taster menu but we were full at the end so no complaints.

Overall the staff made us feel very welcome and we did feel we were sharing a home rather than renting a room and we did feel very comfortable and relaxed which was the purpose of our stay. However, I would not stay again if the standard of the bathrooms was the same throughout the hotel. I think for any 4 star hotel this was totally unacceptable and did nothing to entice us to return. Had we been paying full rate for our room I would very definitely be demanding a refund on the standard of the bathroom alone.
The reception and restaurant staff were very attentive and friendly.

Room Tip: Check the room first ....particularly the bathroom!!!!

Just returned from a magical 2 nights. We arrived early on Friday afternoon and even though we were an hour early-our room was ready. We were greeted by a lovely girl at reception and a blazing fire in the lobby with candles strewn everywhere which really was very atmospheric. Our room was very spacious with a lovely comfortable bed. The only fault was that the TV was archaic and did not lend itself to watching it in bed.
I had a steak sandwich for lunch on the first day and the steak used in the sandwich was very tough. We did not eat in the hotel on our first night but did on the second night and meal was very good indeed. Our package did include dinner-I did think the menu was very pricey if we had to pay seperately. There were some bulbs blown in the lights in the restuarant and the flowers in the lobby did need to be replaced.. The hotel lends itself to getting it away from it all with large comfy chairs, lots of lounges and a blazing fire in the lobby. (We spent a few hours sitting by this drinking some pinot noir reading the papers and it was very relaxing indeed!)
All of the staff are amazing and could not do enough for us..
Breakfast on both mornings was phenomenal.
We will definitely be back !

Beautiful country house and courtyard , appears not to be maximised its potential ...while the receptionist was so nice and helpful the reception is tucked under the stairs and treated like not the most important first impression needs a better impact ..flowers dead!!! But great natural fire to sit around ...can't say the same for the bar gas fire disappointing .....and cocktails really bad no effort in their presentation for the expensive drinks...we had the prestige menu and nothing prestige about it at all extremely long gaps between courses and not a very appetising menu for most taste buds that needs to be re thought very very disappointing for the exorbitant price and not worth it nor would I recommended it or rush back again...but bar menu looks more appealing and will give that a shot some time...it's like a 4 struggling to be a 5 star so compared to 4 stars its a great location, and quality building but not 4 star food and will never be 5 stars at the rate it is going......needs a new lease of life , reception area, menus .....

Staff were so friendly, could not do enough for me. Rooms are periodic and big size. Highlight was sitting in front of roasting fire with glass of Pinot eating their gourmet burger. Heaven! Rooms just need a small bit of updating. Loose tiles, fresh lick of paint and def better tvs but guess that wouldn't give the nice old feel you get here. Love it!

As this hotel is slightly out of the city it was initially difficult for us to find, however once we arrived we had a wonderful time. Our reception was very warm and the staff were very informative about the house itself and local sights to see and did their best to accommodate our schedule with their meals . The rooms were clean and spacious and our view over the Irish Sea was a great sight to wake up to. We would definitely recommend this hotel as a fine place to stay

My husband and I stayed here this weekend on a deal which was to include 2 nights B&B a 7 course dinner and chocolate covered seasonal fruits with prosecco.
We got off to the most surreal and strange start. We arrived early so had lunch in the bar (very tasty). When we went to check in and a middle aged fair haired woman was behind the desk. We walked towards the desk and about 5 foot from the desk she saw us and barked, 'what do you want!?'
I just looked at her with my mouth open and she proceeded to tell me she had been working until midnight the night before and had been in at 6am that morning.
It was the most unbelievable check in I've ever had. We were given our key and told our room number. I had to ask her where was the room before I got directions as to where we should go. I got absolutely no other information, location of restaurant, meal times etc.
We unpacked and rang down for our wine and chocolate covered fruit. What arrived to the room was wine and 2 sweets.
When we went for dinner it went on for 2.5 hours and we only received 5 of the 7 courses.
When we got to our room after dinner (I am pregnant so just wanted to relax) we only had 2 of the 10 channels advertised.
The next morning breakfast was fantastic very nice. The room was lovely also. On check out a lovely dark haired lady served with us and was most charming.
I didn't see the point in complaining as from reading other reviews the manager doesn't seem to care what guests think.
