We stayed at the Tudor Lodge this summer with our daughters who are 6 and 8. This was their favorite bed and breakfast during our weeklong stay in Ireland. They have done a beautiful job with the landscaping in the back. It is a quiet garden with a deck that sits right over the river. The host, Chris was a joy to be around and is full of helpful information. He offered us dinner (16 Euros each for the adults) and it was Irish stew, a drink (alcoholic or non), tea and dessert. It was honestly the best meal we had in Ireland. We liked it so much we ordered lunch from them the next day. Chris sat with us for part of our meal telling us about local life and his dog Tiny. My daughter, who is very scared of dogs, fell in love with Tiny instantly. It felt like we were extended family visiting, not guests of his hotel. We were on the first floor and it is noisy but there is an easy remedy. Ask for a room on the second floor. Besides that I have nothing bad to say about our stay. The room housed four of us and was very comfortable. The walk to Glendalough is about 20 minutes. The walk itself is on the trails of the park with stop offs at waterfall and small creeks. We will definitely be back.

We just returned from a holiday in Ireland. We spent all twelve days of it staying at the Tudor Lodge. The house and grounds are lovely - with pretty, and well-appointed rooms, and a yard backing the river with pretty shrubbery and a very nice fountain and BBQ area.

But the real treasure there isn't the nice bright rooms, or the convenience to the walking trails, or even the wonderful Irish breakfast every morning. It's the people. The owners and staff at the Tudor Lodge were so very friendly and helpful. We will stay there again each and every time we come to Ireland, and we hope to go back regularly. They made our stay SO pleasant. I very much look forward to getting together with them on our next trip.

If you're staying at Tudor Lodge, be sure to make time just to talk with Chris and Jane. They are really lovely folks!

I'm just back from two nights in the Tudor Lodge. We arrived on Saturday, left this morning. For a B&B in a relatively small and remote area of Ireland, Tudor Lodge is an extremely impressive place to stay. The rooms are large, clean and bright, the beds were comfortable and the food was great. The hosts - especially Chris - were brilliant. Extremely helpful and friendly, nothing was too much of an imposition and he went out of his way to make sure we were okay. Every question was answered promptly, every request acted on immediately.

The gardens to the rear of the house are wonderful - make sure you see the river. Lovely for a barbecue or just a chat in the night time.

The fact you can show your room key in the local pub for a free glass of wine is a lovely touch.

All in all it was a fantastic base for our writing and creative weekend and I'm extremely glad I went. I will be back and I will be recommending Tudor Lodge.
